Sorry to resurrect the thread, but have you made any progress? I like how you did the chop in the back, how you didn't go straight across. Is there any particular reason you did it that way?

    Great build
Will you lean the A pillar back or lengthen the roof?

i always liked your old 4 door- did that ch***is end up under the red pickup? i had a framed picture of your brothers truck on my wall for years and it was the inspiration for my old 33 pickup. i took it on the salt at speed week 50th anniversary. new 4 door is looking even better than the old one!

Sorry for not posting any updates. I finally started making a little headway on the ol' fordor. The weather is starting to let up!

The ch***is from my first fordor( the black one) ended up under a traditional roadster in Riverside, Ca. I started building fordor #2 and got side tracked- that frame went under a maroon pickup that I put together. I did build a new frame for my brothers red pickup a few years ago which is still under it. I've been working at my brother to drive his pickup to the salt this year.

I ended up lengthening the roof. I felt that a leaned back A pillar on a 4door sedan would visually make the front window openings look tiny and out of proportion. Looks killer on coupes though.

Very cool. I dig the old Cragar adapter but that Speedway logo on the transmission is screaming to me to be sanded off. :D:D

What size is the SBC? Any internal work done or anything?

    My thoughts exactly.
It will eventually get a 283 when I get a few extra bucks to rebuild it. For now, it will get a 350 that came out of a friend 32 sedan (he upgraded to a 425 buick) The 350 will ensure that I get to drive it this summer.

I also like the early Ford 'hogshead' idea. (those cast aluminum Cragar adaptors were 'borrowed' from heavy duty 4-speed bellhousings in 1-ton Ford trucks.
They were used as male bucks and sand-casted from them, then machined
to adapt Packard, Buick Roadmaster, LaSalle, and a few other trannies behind torque monsters.
Makes the clutch linkage so easy to fit, and looks era-correct.

I have that setup behind my Chrysler hemi, '37 LaSalle behind that...

It is rolling, and the body is setting back on the frame. Little brackets and springs are holding me up. Don't worry Pops, you and Mom will get to to drive it soon..maybe by June??

So I finally got some progress on the ol' fordor. My good friend Steve opened up his shop to me so I could work. Hopefully I can get some more work tomorrow.[IMG][/IMG]

So the plan for the fordor this round is to be a beater. Not a rat rod. Just un-detailed and not painted. Its gonna get driven hard and I don't want to fret over few bugs or a potential mud puddle;)
