The 64 C10 truck came with a 4 x 8 piece of fiber board, and the sides were painted with speckled epoxy garage floor coating.

Must give credit to Mar-K's excellent pre-drilled oak bed kit, s&s bed strips, and a jillion s&s fasteners, and logical instructions. Any one with a good back can do it. The boards have three coats of POR15 and three coats of Behr glossy black enamel.

Painted the bed sides with Dupli-Color's Bed Armor.

Looks really good. Did you consider those covers they make to go over the bed side strips? I've alwys wondered if they look good or if they look cheesy and obvious?

Looks great! I had a c10 long bed step side too. Good trucks. The truck arm rear suspension is really nice. I put a set of front and rear sway bars from Helwig on it (65) and it really handled nice.

Gotta loose that rear bumper. Mine came with one of those big monsters too. A 67-72 Chev truck rear bumper will bolt right up and look good. I don't have any pics as it was a long time ago.

Yeah, I did consider them. Nixed the idea thinking they would not lay flush against the bed side and not lay flush on the angle iron, making them as you said look obvious and cheesy. Forgot to mention I did paint the oxidized metal under the bed Rustoleum Black.

I wondered about that but didn't want to mention it and come off as criticizing. Especially when I've NOT yet done the same to my own frame and bed!:D

Good job! One nicely carried out improvement at a time.
