Ok here is the plan , where I live its not easy to get parts for american cars . I have a 62 235 to go into my 50 goin by what I read on here the cast iron powerglide is not a great gearbox for highway use .So I am goin to try and fit a volvo 740 auto gearbox and rear axle to my 50. I have no idea if this will work but I think it will be a good combo . What do you guys think .Or should I stick with the 62 powerglide with a volvo back axle ??

i had a '60 2speed ironglide in my '64 pontiac on the back of a '60 283SBC and that was just fine for general UK roads and driving, both round town and motorway use, even before i connected up the kickdown.

10-bolt axles are cheap and fairly easy to find over here(much cheaper than a 9"), and would keep the ratio about right, and its all chevy so no compatability issues.

When you likely to need it - I will be pulling the engine and box out of the Pop and then no problems
