even if it was a previous customer that did it, why were they not inspected when they were returned?

I have to agree with Storm King on this. Though it was inexcusable to ship a part in this condition, you should have contacted Belltech and gave them a chance to right the situation before slamming them on the net. I don't think that slamming them was the intention here, but I have a feeling that most of those who are in favor of slamming them on the net before giving them the chance to correct the mistake are the same type of people that would sue for their coffee being too hot. Let Belltech know there is a problem so that they can correct the situation, if they choose not to fix the problem then by all means let the world know about it.

Then the complaint should be about Summit, not Belltech, and since no one knows, it pays to find out before trashing anyone, someone is at fault but is it the guy at Summit who just put it back on the shelf, or is it the guy at Belltech who didn't check when it left . I sure wouldn't want someone trashing my business name because some customer ground up my spndles and Summit sent them back out. I have never dealt with Belltech so I don't know there quality control but as stated before there are some people out there that will rebox crap and send it back to Summit, who does restock it, as I stated I got used Dana 60 gears in a new Richmond box. I have dealt with Summit for 20 some odd years and have had great service from them but sometimes stuff happens, but until you know what the facts are you should reserve judgement

The product was shipped from Belltech. No matter where it originally came from it should have been inspected before it was put in a box with their name on it and this most likely happend here in the US so the blame should also stay here. Domestic companies who don't know or care what they are doing are are as much to blame for the decline of our manufacturing capacity as cheap foreign imports.
It's inexcusable such a product left the company and I think the poster has every right to call them out.

The product was shipped from Summit, nobody knows what the product looked like from Belltech to Summit, read before you trash, if he ordererd it directly from Belltech then it would be all Belltech. You don't know how many places that might have been, those were repaired, I can't picture a company doing that crappy a repair to there product and shipping it out with there name on it

I tried pulling that last post, I did miss that part, and I apologize. I am just trying to see that a company doesn't get trashed without facts but if they were trully dropshipped it's on them

That is exactly what I was thinking as I read this thread. The corporate mindset is often driven more for maximum profit and other issues like quality control and CONSUMER SAFETY get pushed to the back of the priority list. Bringing this concern to the forefront is a legitimate rant in my opinion, as I feel people should be informed.

the mural to the story is .check your parts...no matter who makes them or where they come from...
even the best companys have issues from time to time..what sets the best apart is the way they handle these issues.
i for one am glad this was brought up,id like to see how the company handles the problem...
