Hot Rods Belly Tank in Disneyland

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by vividlyvintage, Aug 23, 2011.

  1. They bought that Indiana Jones truck over to the UK a few years ago. It was a GMC CCKW 353 same as my Dads. So at the War & Peace show they asked to park it next to my Dads Truck, which was in the traditional livery, and asked the visitors to the show "whats the difference?". Most people said ones a Mercedes and the others a GMC. Little did they know that it was the same vehicle just made to look like a Mercedes.

Same truck was used in Full Metal Jacket too... I think i realised what I'm going to watch tonight.

I'm meaning to get out to the US soon, my daughter wont stop going on about Cars Land after I accidentally showed her the youtube video of it!

The manager told me that this clock was the one used when Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier.. not sure how true that is.. but knowing Disney it very well might be.. especially because it was in the cashier cage so no one can touch it.. anyone care to elaborate on the validity of this claim?

When I worked at the local airport doing minor repairs on small/medium turbo prop driven planes (piper's, cessna's, and beechcraft turbo prop planes) we used these spark plug boxes to rotate the plugs. They are made by champion spark plugs.

There is even a 48 star flag hanging in the shop(shown in the first photo's background. So it truly reflects the 1950's (this is before hawaii and alaska became US states) era in many layered details.
