Just looking for something fun to put together and thinking about a street legal(well sort of) belly tanker.drew up a couple plans, but just wondering how most of them get the body around all the internals...just cut it in half or what?
Alot of the old ones were made as 2 pieces with a horizontal seam running around the middle. Do a search in the HAMB Cl***ifieds.
The last on i saw for sale was at Piegon Forge Tenn. at the Shades of the Past rod run.....Saw it in the Swap meet... as i remember it was kinda expensive....I don't know if they are made in two pieces but this one was..... Two half pieces and a million nuts and bolts to put it together. Some company is...or...has made a gl*** tanker in the past. HRP
I used to own one. It was steel rather than aluminum. I lethened it a bit, made a new flange for it, bent some tubing , got the motor mocked, then got rid of the pos. It takes alot of time, and dedication to get one done proper, save your energy on some "A" stuff and just let this one p***.........................
I agree with rouge it's alot of work to build one and of course $ to doit right.. but man some day Ill get one done...my buddy Bob is buiding this one and it rules,,, Im aculaly docunmeting the build and will follow him to Bonniville till the end... Here's some pix... He scored 2 p47 He cut the both in half and used both bottoms so he had less metal work covering the fuel sender area ...Heres some pix... Theres a previous post on it ill try to find.. L8er EVEL
Don't get me wrong V8, but you will end up with a goofy street car, or an exspesive race car. Just wan't you to think about that. But hey, if it's a dream than chase it..........
