I really hate asking this question but looking at the clips today and really not sure how to install. The slot is oblong and thought you put them in sideways and twist into position. However this didn't seem to work for me. Do I need some kind of tool, do they twist in. Just overlook the fact I'm ignorant and tell how to go about it, Thanks. Ralph PS I mean the trim running along the center of the fenders not at the window
Well I fought these clips or about 40 minutes this afternoon and never managed to get the first one installed, I give up
wish I could help...mine just had the normal studded clips or the snap-ins./ No oval holes on mine either...just round or square. Somebody here with a '54 must have the answer
it has been over 30 years since I did mine.I had to find some of my nos stash to refresh my memory.place the clip in the hole then with a pair of flat nosed pliers bend the tang in a sideway motion this will lock it in place. .I hope this makes sense
From the door post to midway of the front fender you cannot reach to put a nut on the clip. I could remove the inner fenders and get to them, but who would want to do that
Can't be that much difference between yours and the '57's... What you're saying is the reason for the combination of snap-in clips and threaded post clips. The snap in's are for the areas you can't reach to put a nut on.
Restoration Specialties has a vast array of clips for our Fords. Talk to Jeff, he really helped me with clips for my '59.
That's the ones I bought they don't work. I think these may be what I want. Front Door And Fender Moulding Clip - Ford Part # 49-13223-1
I presume by calling them belt line mouldings you mean the strips around the bottom of the Windows which Li Es up with the bottom of the windscreen mouldings. The clips are similar to what you have but are rounded to allow them to sit flush against the metal around the Windows. I bought clips from teebird products which were a universal plastic clip which just pushed in. I couldn't get them to work. I found some of the correct clips on eBay and used them with some salvaged from my originals. You will be able to use the universal bolt on clips (small) to hold the ends on the doors. I spoke with Bill from teebird products about the failure of the clips he supplied. He says lots of people have bought them. I just couldn't get them to lock into the holes. His part number is B21060AK.
No I realized I called the trim by the wrong name and put PS in my post to that effect. I should have deleted it and reposted, will know better next time. I can't believe this is difficult, but the china parts manufactures don't cross reference their part to the original ford part number as I've been told. So it's trial and error and mostly error on my part.
