I have removed the belt trim on my 48 Chevy FleetMaster coupe and the center rear mounting strap was so rusted it just came apart. This is the piece that is attached to the body and the belt trim snaps over it. Have looked everywhere I can think of for a replacement, but unable to find one.

Has anyone used another means of mounting the belt trim? If anyone has this strap and not using it I could take it off your hands or knows where I can find one.

    Thanks for the help.

Without seeing a picture I am not sure about the piece you are missing, but when I built a 47 aerosedan the mounting clips on it were in bad shape so I used the clips you can obtain at most auto supply houses that are a flat aluminum strap about 4" long with a 1/4" stud in the center. The aluminum strap is seriated about every 1/8" and you just brake off the amount you don't need and slip the remainder of the strap into the back of the belt trim and slide it to the location of the hole you need the stud to go in. They were still holding the belt trim on the aerosedan 20 years later.
