I got a bench seat from a caravan to fit my Model A Coupe. The seat is the right size, but the frame work is too damn heavy. The seat I have is one that can fold down flat like a bed, which is a useless feature for the coupe. I wonder whether I should modify the existing seat frame, or build a new frame from scratch?
So why is it useless. We modified this one so it would fold like a bed. Also built a package tray to fill in the void behind the seat. Which is where we mounted the speakers.
My caravan seat doesn't have that feature, but mine does fold on top of itself. Maybe try looking for a "new" seat from the junk yard. I don't know what you have in mind in order to fix the problem, but it might be better to find something else. Also if you plan on reupholstering the seat, you can find one thats wider than you need, and just narrow it. Its pretty easy to do and you can get the width spot on. That might give you some more options.
i cut mine up ...get some hog rings and pliers and go to town....i also used the adjusters/slides from a 70s 80s chev pickup they are the right length....i welded them right to the seat frame and cut them down...the front of the seat was about 2 1/2" and back was 1" off floor
my caravan seat doesnt fold up, some do some dont maybe try a older caravan I think all the way back to 84 is almost the same mine came from a 98 or so
