I'm using lincoln spindles on the super bell and the camber is wrong;can the Super Bell be bent like Henry's for alignment?

Is it forged or cast ?
How can you tell ? Same as on a crankshaft.
Check the width of the parting line.
Narrow parting line is cast, wide is forged.

Forgings can be bent no problem.

  3. Superbell I-beam axles are cast.....do not heat and bend it

I second that. Other than stock Ford axles, the only ones that are forged are the Chassis Engineering. Do not try to heat and bend a cast axle (Superbell, Magnum, etc.).

So does that mean his axle is junk? It must have bent somewhere to require realignment...
Can it be machined or something?
VERY poor setup if you ask me!!!

As far as I understand, alignment shops correct minor beam axle alignment problems cold so it shouldn't need to be heated.

Get in contact with Superbell to make sure.

  7. no..it's not junk...Superbell/Pete & Jakes make a good axle.......i don't really know what the problem is , but it seams the king pin angle is different from ford to lincoln

machining is not the answer..using ford spindles is...and knowing what works and what doesn't

  8. NO...i mean NO...did i make it clear??? do not try to bend a cast axle.....period

bending forged axles is OK....both with heat and small amounts cold

did i say not to try to bend a cast axle???? as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow....do not try to bend a cast axle.....clear?????

    LOL
    MISSED the Lincoln spindle part!
I thought it was a "Hit a pothole" problem and he needed to RE-align.
I gotta slow down readin' stuff! :)

I take it that this is an I-beam axle. This axle is a ductile iron cast unit=Do not heat or bend. I have seen them broken in half = not a pretty sight!

That does not mean that it is a bad axle, It is just what has been available in the "affordable new axle range" for the past 20 yrs. "Vintage Chassis Works" came out with forged axle in the 80's This tooling in now the Chassis Engineering
forged axle albeit slightly redesigned. You can bend the snot out of that axle.

Super Sell Tube Axle, Welded Chrome Moly Tube Axle with Forged Ends =
This axle can be slightly adjusted, but don't gey too crazy. One many compromise a weld.

Call Jason @ Pete & Jakes-Super Bell, or Dave Enmark= former owner of S.B.
    They know their products.

The problem is not the axle, it is the lincoln spindles.....Linclon axles have a different camber in the axles than Ford.
Get a pair of Ford Spindles and adapt your lincoln brakes to them.
