If you're going to paint the hood and leave the louvers polished (as you talked about in your Youtube video) then the windscreen should be polished as well. Just MHO!
The whole car is a work of art. Sorry to hear that you may sell it. It will always be known as Jordan Bennett's Midnight Special.

Just so every one can see before and after without searching:
I think the new one is an improvement, but I also think that an even more open mesh would look better. (Also, let more air in.)
The edges look a bit unfinished. A man of your talents could probably whip something up in just a couple of minutes.:D Could be either on the insert or on the shell.
    JMHO!!!

The trick with engine turning on period stuff is not to make it too perfect, not everyone gets that, so well done avoiding that trap.

  15. Got the knuckle protector bolted on. I use 3/16” flathead stainless dome heads. I spend time cleaning and polishing each head. Haha. I used a leather belt and cut and made a nice cassette between the top of the cowl and aluminum flange. I also mounted the grill back on the frame. not sure about it yet I believe I will made another grill insert that’s more correct. I will make a belly pan for it soon and then decide on what stays polished and what gets painted.

I think if you made or cut down the original Anglia grille trim to cover those screw heads it'd look heaps better

This is such a great piece of what can be accomplished through old school parts and attention to detail!
The quality displayed here is right up there with the projects created at Engels Coach Shop.
Different shops to be sure, but the craftsmanship and results, definitely mirror each other!

Perfection! Don't paint the hood or the knuckle guard, paint adds weight. Remember the Mercedes F1 cars of the 50s. They were/are just polished alloy for that exact reason.

Stunning. Have you considered adding something similar to a Model T steering wheel nut?

Thank you kindly, means a lot. I learned a ton through out the build and looking forward to watching it evolve over time.
Yeah I feel they look right at home.

  25. Well I got the transmission rebuilt and installed, then worked on making a shifter relocation setup the gain a short shift setup for racing, it worked perfectly first try (massive surprise) then got the belly mid pan polished and louvered, the best bit was to surprise my family (visiting) and my nephew Bennett the car who he has watched from the beginning and is almost more car obsessed than myself… and he’s 4. It’s was very special to say the least.

When in 2nd gear, how close is shifter to steering wheel? Seems more natural if shifter was to right of your right leg but would require much more monkey motion in shift linkage. You sure have built a beautify, functional speedster & are the expert.

  30. It’s farther away than it looks making it perfect to grab the steering wheel in a hurry

Had it in a box of junk and worked perfectly!

Hudsons his name! Keeping me very busy!
Thank you Kindly Stogy! Means a lot
