  1. Funny enough these ones are fake. I’ve done many properly in the past, but these are only just for looks to ad an appearance that they could be factory.

A lot of the idea came from Ray Prue’s single seater 0CA67427-5C21-42D2-A167-F9C004F3AA88.jpeg

Cool, That is going to be one nice little car when it is done.

I found another thing on Lake Perkolilli This link says they used to have a large circular track there LAKE PERKOLILLI - speedwayandroadracehistory

A bit more including a map. Lake Perkolilli Red Dust Revival 2019 (australiasgoldenoutback.com)

I remember the video from a couple of years ago showing that the trip into the lake was more like and overlander expedition than a trip to the raceway.

Keep us posted and lets see some photos and a video of that one throwing up some dust.

Lookin' good. Can't wait to see more.

Can you go over the process you use to dress your welds?

This is Ray's build thread for the Defender. Not phone savvy but you should be able to find it with this; Screenshot_20220307-152514_Chrome.jpg

    Speaking of rivets . . .
On the second Model A frame we built in the 60s for my highboy roadster, we filled the not used frame holes with rivets tacked in from the back of the channel. Then we cut them off on the outside. It took very little filler to touch them up.

In retrospect, that may have been more work than other options. Oh, well.

  20. Yes definitely I’ll go over a few steps, I’ll have a video each week covering everything build related on our YouTube channel as well-

    I’ll go into more detail on blending tomorrow. 1DCAE23B-0501-4AF9-B194-5B85775CB00B.jpeg DE8D202E-329B-4A6F-A929-0E18CCEB9552.jpeg 500E7B8D-03B3-496B-97C2-EC2EE80563CD.jpeg 4A0BC9D2-19D5-4697-B88E-B36ACAA5052B.jpeg 45BEDAD8-43B5-4278-9EB4-298792B98BCF.jpeg C038AD7F-DCE4-47A4-BA48-6E349D55AFA6.jpeg

Naahhhh, your car looks like a correct vintage HOT ROD!!...putty and paint can't really make them what they ain't!!....although the OP's build is sweet!

  25. Finished off all the welding and blending on the frame today- the tapers in the frame, the kick ips for the rear ( the back frame horns will stay until I decide what to do with them and the rear portion of the body, I few asked about the blending technique with silicone bronze. These plates on the rear are not really structural hence using the bronze. I cut those Roloc wheels into squares so only the corner portion is hitting the area making it rounded and blends perfectly- then a USED red scotch brote pad on the wheel to help finish it off, tomorrow it’s split wish bones and motor mounts.

one thing I do need to know to fitting a model a rear torque tube to 39 box? The pieces needed for this. I will have to shorten this a fair bit prior.

Could you discuss the procedure for doing the silicone bronze tig? I.e. what prep, rod gas if different, etc. I've seen the results, but have never tried it.
