  4. Cool roadster. That is my favorite way of doing a spreader bar. My Tudor has the same

  5. Jig prep, simple but hope it works when finished. Time to get the frame repaired 14323F2A-2E2F-48DE-8E4F-F83B23C9D309.jpeg 2537B686-51F6-411F-80D9-AF006904270C.jpeg 8AF59E6A-BA21-49FB-BB54-071D57C6F1BD.jpeg

  7. Little bit more progress, the rear kick ups are pretty bent. The left side is the worst, I do have these repop rear sections I could use. Also was thinking about maybe running a model a rear crossmember so I could possibly run the quick change in the future 5B6F2A7E-4475-42B0-9DF3-26FFD44324CB.jpeg 78A987BC-CACB-49EE-BEC5-661050EB183A.jpeg 3850DBBA-4E16-4317-9C20-ECCFF5F0B152.jpeg D41D8896-34E2-4AC7-B721-8132D0D88509.jpeg 8E8F2AB2-5080-46AA-87D6-FD5DAA04F586.jpeg 1D70F687-B917-44F2-B8C7-7F6861D860FB.jpeg

  8. Fronts fixed. Rears are cut getting there. Also found this in my pile, I might use it so I don’t have to grind the springs to fit the 32 one. Guessing it’s 33-34 ?

  9. Rear frame horns tacked in, rear jig welded in with fabricated spreader bar to sandwich the frame horns, next on the list, for original rear crossmember or ‘40 rear or model a… hmm.

  11. Loosely mocking up body on frame, removed the floor as I will be fabricating a drop floor section for my butt to lower my body down the the car, I plan on running a heavy chopped screen and top so I want to sit very low. 169DEE5E-67F8-4FB4-A4E0-5ED5E758E8CF.jpeg 73000EBB-7F26-481F-83C9-7F8A7E870D56.jpeg 87AEA581-15EE-44AF-AC81-90FED79CF12A.jpeg 79025CDB-E1DA-4ECA-BDDA-DFBF47A6BC03.jpeg 358318D0-3E27-4446-A6EB-3371BED37B92.jpeg 99538B16-F5A9-48ED-900D-1F47A5EE88F9.jpeg

Great looking project. You are off to a great start. I've always wanted a 29 highboy on deuce rails but after building one for a customer I realized I could not fit in the cockpit comfortably. My favorite 29 highboy over the years is Mark Morton's Rodzy. Good luck with your build.

  15. I agree, being 6’7 has its challenges with early cars, actually any vehicles.
But a drop down seat pan similar to ‘JB’s Swedish lakester build should get my head just looking over the dash!

  16. Today I managed to get the rear kick ups Tig welded in and blended on the out side. After bolting in the rear crossmember in the original location. I’ve began to start testing out the hot rivets and trying to get my home made end dialed in, bit of work to go to get them looking clean and uniform. Any tip and tricks with this are greatly appreciated! Even tools you’ve made for the rivets? Really enjoying your videos.

Any particular reason for such a large gap where you’re welding the frame together? Typically with tig I see very tight fitment. For thicker material I would have expected to see a tight fit with a bevel on one side?

    - to be crystal clear I’m asking because I honestly don’t know and your stuff has been pretty informational so figured you’d have a good answer

  20. you’re right, when Tig welding I’d have them tight with a bevel. I had originally planned on mig welding these and usually like to leave a 1mm gap for that.
Im sure there’s guys that do it completely different. Im no expert haha

Looking good so far you are making quick progress. I dragged my 28 Roadster home when my first kid was only 3 weeks old as well. He got his first ride when he was 8. Looks like you got a shop to work in so you don't have to worry about the about an angry wife informing you that your grinding just woke up the baby.

I've got a set of boxing plates if you decide to go that way

  25. Hahaha yes there’s about a 5 minute separation from house to shop so enough space to make noise!

  26. Yes I will box a small section and tie it into the rear crossmember but done so to rivet and make look like it’s suppose to be there

  27. Had a crack and has success with the rivets, a bigger buck would be good but they are pressed well and look the part. Slightly bigger than stock but I’m okay with it.
Next is the front crossmember, repairs to front section where shocks are mounted and rear boxing plates to strengthen where I’ve welded the rear section.

  30. Got the front crossmember reverted in, this one was tricky and took me a couple times to get right with the limited amount of space I g
Had to get a buck in behind the river on the inside. I know the ones on top of the frame and usually flat to clear the front fender but I’ll leave them for now. I also did a pass on each side of the crossmember and welded it, might not be necessary but it’s easy to remove if needed. Repaired the right side where the shock mount mounted and blended it in and played with a few cans of paint to match the original patina. Not usually a fan of making things ‘look old’ with paint but it’s getting close to looking like it wasn’t done. Hiding those couple hours of work hahah.
Prepping the body with ‘galmet’ rust convertor and sealer, it’s a bit shinny for my liking at the moment but will play around with it, gives a lot of depth and detail.
