Greetings...I've been reading the HAMB message board for weeks, and I decided it was time to join up. I'm the proud owner of a '51 Merc custom that I bought out of a junkyard in 1983. After years of work (chop/lower/nose/deck/re-power/primer, etc.), I finally got it roadworthy in the early 90's and drove it for a couple of years. Family and job issues forced me to put it in storage in 1995, and there it sat for 14 years. Last summer I had this dream about driving it again, which made me realize that if I didn't soon get it back on the road, it would be too late (I'm over 60). I resurrected it in July of 2009, and now I have it at home in my garage getting it ready for the summer cruising season. There's always a lot to learn about old cars, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the HAMB family. I'll post a couple of photos as soon as I figure out how.
Welcome to the HAMB from Western Illinois!! Look forward to seeing those pictures, as those old Mercs are enjoyed by many, including us!! Bryan & Sarah
Glad you got the Merc out of mothballs and joined up. Want to say it's never too late as I'm still trying to talk my 83 year old Dad into a rod. He finally retired and it's time to start enjoying life! Welcome Aboard!
welcome from rowlett tx---what a way to grow old--in a '51 merc. about like 68 and finishing up a 40 ford--hang in there.
Hey and welcome from GA. If I ever finish the projects I'm already working on I am gonna buy me a Merc. Who am I kidding I will always be working on my projects. What else would I do on the weekends...mow the grass or something?
