Close up of the transmission mount. The two small tabs on the back of the X are for body mounts. Note that all the welds have been smoothed out. This picture also shows that the boxing plates are recessed into the rails.[IMG]

This is when I was modifying the front cross member. I cut the center out then cut the two ends and bent them forward. I made a new center piece and small pie shape pieces for the ends and welded everything together.[IMG]

Front leaf spring. The reason why I posted this is to show that you can use 41 Jeep springs for the front and 75 Jeep springs for the rear. I have done this before and you can get all 4 springs for about $200.00. [IMG]

I hope I didn't bore you guys with the details. This is where I am as of today. I am back in mock up stage so that I can figure out the steering and pedal set ups. [IMG]

Hey Larry. Looks like the long winter weather gave you some time to work on the Willys. Everything looks great. Look forward to seeing you two in the coming months.

Wow is all I can say. I just discoverd your thread and have to add that I was a young (14-15-16) year old kid that saw the Mystery Willys at both Dover and Connecticut and it had a great effect on my budding Hot Rodding. At that time it was one of the premier fastest things we had to watch and of course all my friends wanted one just like it.

You do AWESOME work and it shows. Hope your health holds out to get it done.

Would this still work for a fibreglass bodied version? Seeing as it would probably be a bit lighter.
    Loving your work.

I know Enloe. I shouldn't complain because business is so busy but I do miss Bowling Green. Maybe next year.

I didn't catch this question before. These springs would work on a stock chassis or if you position the spring brackets in the same location as a stock chassis.

I decided that while is was waiting for some parts to come that I would tackle the rear fenders. They are the only body panels left to do. I had a pair of 37 sedan rear fenders that I had used when I repaired the fender wells so I decided that I should use these as they would fit the best. They have some rust issues that I needed to deal with. So here we go.[IMG]

Here is the patch panel layed over the fender to check fit and to mark the fender for cutting.[IMG]
