What an incredible find...of a lifetime. I've done the same thing with my Mustang. It suffered decades of storage, neglect, and spent a few years outside corroding and rusting. The Willys will live the good life now. You were very lucky they still had so many parts left like the wheels and extras.
every once in a while you can reach back through history, grab a hold of something and drag it kicking and screaming into today. this is one of those finds!! its so sad to see these once proud cars as rotting corpses. best of luck with it!! p.s. id also print those pics as glossy and mount em to the dash when it was all done
All I Can Say Is WOW!!! and Cool Beans Good luck!!! I would like to see this at the Niagara Drags Reunion show someday up here in western ny...please
Hey Wanda & Larry, get to work on that Mystery Willys.... I just reserved another spot for you at this years York nostalgia show........... Nice find.... Ron
Ron, I think it will take us a little longer than that. hahahaha Look forward to seeing you and alan at york us 30
Thats got to be the find of the year. Dam I hate you!!!!! Just kidding, nice find and I know you know what to do with it
301? Dino's article hinted at a Hemi. Either one would be way cool. I guess over the years it prolly had several different engines in it. Any idea what's going back into it when you rebuild it?
My heart starts racing every time a hear stories like this.................i'm really jealous, great score!
Hey every single car i own is a barn find! this one was beside the barn, if it was in it, i woulda found it! hahah
This is just too cool. I love stories like this.Any chance of seeing some shots of the setup in the back.Kind of hard to see it through the bushes!! I am a lover of home build setups from back in the day. Ever body was experimenting.
ALL, I am planing on running a 301 as that was the motor that Al ran. I can post some better detail pictures when we get back from Thompson next week. Thank you all for the supoort. I am going to call it a night as we will be leaving at 2 am. Thanks LARRY
yes, I am well aware of your love for Willys and sure was pleased to see the Mystery Willys end up in your loving hands. I was just joshing you. as you can see, I have the disease myself.
Like others have said...sure glad it ended up in your hands! It is so great that those wheels are still with it. What parts do you need to put it back how it was. Post a list some time, I'm sure some of us would be happy to help out if we can. Congratulations, Willys finds like that are very rare now.
How the hell have I missed this post?!!? The HAMB just continues to impress. Incredible find! CONGRATULATIONS!
Since We're Hot here on Willys Finds...We're Looking For THIS CAR NOW and contact with original owner-driver Mag Stein...Ran out of eastern Conn. He is rumored to have offered the car as a roller" back then" for $1000. He upgraded to his next car...A Camaro sponsored by Matty's Speed Shop (Another Dover Guy that ran Hudsons, But Thats a story for another thread)....So where did this Purple Willys GO? I Would Announce the "War Of The Willys" ...When Al would stage the "Mystery Willys" against him.
