I am well aware that I started this thread, but it wasn't for me, it was to show Mark that there are other options to that Coffin car. I didn't come across this one is a magazine or internet but at Rod Run last weekend. And I have to point out I have never owned a 32 Ford and I am not that big of a fan (there goes my key to the HAMB alliance restroom), but this one rang my bells. It is a newly finished car, and as that old dude in the white suit on Jurassic Park, he spared no expense. The plate numbers mirrored the odometer.

Owned and built by a local Vancouver man and slo pok. I'd change out the rear tires (nothing is perfect) but this one rings my bells. Beautiful new addition to the world's 32 Ford Hotrod inventory.

Hard to find fault with a black deuce 3W huh!
Maybe punch a crank hole in the grille insert, and whats with those tires?

I'm sure they aren't cheap and they likely handle a helluva lot better than those drag tires on mine when it started raining down there, but I'd sand them down and polish the sidewalls personally. It really was one of the nicest hot rods down there that I saw...and I saw a lot of hot rods!

Maybe just shave the rear tires. I agree, they detract from the car.

“Let’s see how much it helps if we take this off.”
Then your salt neighbors loan you parts so that they can see if that wakes your new motor up, and so on , , ,
    Am I right?

The beauty, or should I say the inner beauty of Gray's old roadster is the car was built to drive on sunny or rainy days, the paint is showing it's age and it wears the primer spots like a badge of honor, he loved it just the way it is, he used it for his daily transportation from 1966 -1981 and racked up more than 250,000 miles in his lifetime.

The car is plain and simple, and thank God the current caretakers of this iconic hot rod has kept it as Gray left it

Not trying to take anything away from all the outstanding deuces posted in this thread but Gray's roadster has always appealed to me, I am attracted to the cars that are not the shiniest, have the nicks and a small dent here and there, and the ones you can drive to work or the grocery store. Meh. Light bar is too high, the nerfs and steelies don't "do it for me". Hinges but shaved handles? I like bigger headlights, and I like painted cars. I am glad I don't own it as I would hate to alter it but if it was mine...I would.

That is probably not a popular opinion, but it is mine. Sorry. I hope my key still opens the washroom in the morn.

If you get in, you better check your key in the "licker" cabinet!

Every time I see this car, I can’t help wondering why the owner doesn’t paint the guards (fenders) to tidy it up as it deserves.
Of course if that was done, how many people would recognise it as Gray Baskerville’s ?
Perhaps the current owner doesn’t want to lose its identity, but it would surely look better after all these years with patchy paintwork………..

If I remember correctly, Gray had the rear fender repaired, but there wasn't time to paint it, so he went to a rod meet with the fender in primer. The organizers wouldn't let him in because of it, and he was so mad that he left that fender in primer as a statement, and it's been that way ever since...and I'm glad to see that it has stayed that way!

When using subjective words in a description the very nature of the beast will be left solely to opinion.
I love these types of threads as they bring out many opinions and points of view.
@alchemy some don’t get it but many do get it. Many may get it but don’t like it. I’m guessing @Bandit Billy is one such person, if he owned Grays car he’d probably paint etc etc. He gets it but we may not get his point of view.
Personally I don’t want a perfect pristine car not because I don’t like it but because I would be afraid to drive it, really drive it! Scratches dings etc would make me ill to my stomach That’s not fun.
If you have to ask you don’t get it. Covers a lot of ground.

I get it, to many here painting that car would be akin to painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa. It is a car of historic interest if not value because it has primer sprayed over repairs. It has provenience I guess you would say, perhaps because of its flaws and the reason the flaws exist. My thread is a quest for the "best 32 Ford of all time", and in my opinion it just isn't. That doesn't mean I wouldn't snap a pic of it if I saw it in a museum, but is it the best 32 Ford in existence? I see a lot of cars in museums and shows that I find interesting but that doesn't mean I would want to take them home with me. So, would I actually paint the car? No, because I would never own the car...or the Moan Lisa for that matter. I visited her picture in the Louvre a few years back, I really don't get that one and I was an Art Major.
