I am looking for a good book to learn about and understand the operations of a V8 flathead . The 1934 coupe I bought has a 36 LB block and other accessories, but I don't know the first thing about a flat head; I grew up on A & B 4 cylinders engines and still have a few that I have fun with. Any suggestions as to what I might buy on Amazon - or does anyone have something they wish to sell? Thanks, Steve
books by - Frank Otto - flathead rebuilders handbook 1932/53 by Fisher books....Mike Davidson - how to build a Street Flathead by graffiti books.....George McNicholl - how to build cl***ic hot rod V/8 engines....by Motorbooks.....which also has the Vern Tardel/Mike Bishop series of books.....these books sit under my computer....
We stock a few good books. Many available from other good sources too. Here's our group: http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/flathead_booksforsale.htm
Any of the above books will give you the knowledge to feel comfortable when dealing with flatheads. If you are after more power and what parts will add more power and still be dependable, then Joe Abbin,RoadRunner Eng.Albuquerque,N.M. Is tops. Not only is Joe an engineer; he has a flow bench and a dyno and knows how to use them. He has a 335 h.p. Flatmotor(blower) that runs 12's in a 34 sedan! Nice guy and very knowledgeable.
