Hi I've got a 255 Merc flathead to put in my 51 Merc. It's staying at 255 with dual 97s and edelbrock heads. Any recommendations for a nice cam for a flatty in a full bodied car,three speed trans with overdrive and stock back axle. Most of my driving is at about 60mph. been looking at my options on reds headers and was thinking about going with a Isky 3/4 race cam as it seems a middle of the road one. Give "Pete1" on here a call and ask his advice on a camshaft. I can suggest that you replace the original "Load-O-Matic" distributor with an aftermarket distributor that will give you some advance. The original will not work at all with multiple carbs. "GMC BUBBA" here on the HAMB can supply you with what you need for a distributor.
