Sweet deal, Paul ! I have only been able to buy back one of my old cars. Sold a 67 Goat to a kid who blew it up, in a week. He called me crying about it, so I was able to get it for pocket change. Dropped another 389 in it and sold it again! The Clown car looks like a fun ride!

    Dearest Mr. Flats,
Could you be troubled to take some pictures of the under side of the Great Clown
Car? And possible explain how it was built? It surely is a national trasure, or at least
a stately treasure. I have seen some older magazine articles about othe clown cars
but would love to see under yours.

    Thanks Jeff.

Well, heck if it is a national treasure then I would be glad to.

  11. Hell Bob, I knew that.................:p

  12. I have to caution you on what you request from Mr Flats... He's been known to show everybody what's underneath and although it's no treasure to the rest of us... it's his treasure! Hahaha... :D

My FIL was a Shriner clown and had some great stories. He passed by a shoe repair store that had a sign that said "Resoles, $40 ANY shoe". That cobbler lived to regret that sign. My FIL brought his huge clown shoes in. "I'll have to kill to cows to resole these things!" but he was true to his word and stuck to his price.

Another story was to do with about 8 clowns and a pony stuffed in a tiny car. My FIL was stuffed in the back seat facing the pony and feeding him carrots to keep him calm for the ride out to the ring. As I recall the pony was "gassy" so the clowns were very enthusiastic about jumping out of the car when it was showtime.

Been working on it some and have given it a cosmetic makeover plus we removed the skid bars and added some caster wheels. Also gave it a new windshield to make it street legal. More of a modern day wheelstander now maybe.....

Love the new colors. I am seeing it with some goldleaf lettering on it. That would be classy for sure!

I like that Fire Dept. idea but since I was fresh out of gold leaf, I went out in between basketball games and painted the letters with my white one shot paint. A friend of Mrs. PF came over and I loaded them up for a test ride. Let's just say there was lots of screaming from the back seat. PERFECT!!!!! The new caster wheels worked great.

    Mr. Flats,

I swear that I had posted something before, but my Dad hired "Nino the Clown" with an IDENTICAL car to "wow the crowd" at many of our races at Muncie Dragway "back in the day" (sixties) who I think was out of Indianapolis. That car is IDENTICAL!!!!! I may have a shot of Nino and the car in our scrapbooks.....I will check!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! Ebert

    Nino looks like a pedophile.

    if the shoe fits...

  30. PF, the car turned out perfect! I really like the "Safety First" on the hood. The only thing that could be better is a bumper sticker on the back that says "Do you want a cheap thrill?" I so hope I am like you Paul when I grow up. You are like the modern day FONZIE.
