My daughter is just a few weeks shy of 30. She attended her first rod run when she was three weeks old She started pumping brakes for me when I bled them when she d was around four. Ever since she was sixteen she has helped me when I had to tow something home on a chain and she is the best there is on the back end of tow chain or tow rope. My 25 year old son doesn't get much time to play with cars but lately he has come home from welding all day at work and taken over the welding on what ever project I have going. I had one of the girls (now grown woman) that I had as a student in autoshop 20 some years ago stop me in the store a while back and tell me about how she was helping her son fix up his first car. That made me feel pretty good that day.
This thread is awesome.. I've had my son (the little rock star that comprises my avatar) out in the shop with me alot but he was always just content to climb on stuff and look for spiders until recently.. Watching his curiosity about my hobby grow of late has been wonderous.. And we reached a milestone today as well... Finally got him to use the impact wrench by himself.. I was so proud i wanted to cry, until i realized i was a man, standing in a garage, tearing apart an engine.. a man law No No..
My 20 month old is already working 97s like a pro.....every one of them in my pile now rattles from the 2 inch metal screw inside the bowl! Whenever I open the shed door, he's in their like a shot looking for his bucket of screws.
My son is only 5 and he don't care about anything that is going on in the garage yet. Hopefully he will in the future.
