oh he does. Seen his other post. Even has photo of the manx dune buggy it came out of. Yep 327 in a dune buggy. Looks like it was really cool back in the 70s.
The only AMC motor International ever used was a small number of AMC 401's in the early/mid 70's when they couldn't produce enough 392 for the IHC Travelall model.. were a big seller at that time for towing trailers... and they bought the 401's from AMC to meet the demand. I worked at a IHC dealership during that time.
It should be no problem coming up with a 500 h.p. 327. The internet is full of 301's that make 7 or 800 h.p. at 8000 all day long ,with stock bottom end.
Here's how I look at it, At 16, most kids who know everything gradually begin a downward slide into reality with in a few years. Once There they begin to become aware of more and more that they don't know they didn't know. Just let em have fun, we all know the gig and it's better fun for us if we just watch.
If you won't do a SBC, watch for a free RV. Around here, there is always a free RV somewhere. They're like a big block mystery grab bag. You'll have $1K left to make whatever it is thump.
The cheapest horsepower engine you can buy is a 70 Cad 472 or 500 engine. 375 HP for the 472 bone stock at 3500 rpm with about 500 ft lbs of torque. Around here you can find rusted out Cads that still run good for under $1000 or less.
