Damn. That is so cool to see yet another iconic car faithfully recreated.

Ricklefs is the man, showing how it's done with those flame outlines. Is the stripe in gold/green? That should pop beautifully.

  2. the stripe is kind of a mustardy yellow. Ricklefs also laid out and sprayed the flames and highlights. Jon Farguson (Jons Body Shop) in Long Beach handled all the spraying otherwise. They nailed it together.

WOW... and yes more photos please.

As for the Revell Box Art.
I once read a story that it was indeed a photo retouch. Revell could not do the wires that where on the real car, or perhaps it was to expensive to do. So they wanted to have the chromed wheels in the kit.
This was decided at the last moment before the box needed to go to the printer. And the guy who needed to do the Photo retouch only had a black and white photo of a car with the right set of wheels. So the box art is in color, except for the wheels which are from a black and white photo.

Nice!!! Not too bad going from "100,000 pieces" like You said, into this in less than 13 months time, too. Thanks for posting.

  8. haha well i exaggerated a little but it was a mess when it came in. we had 5 of the same piece and none of them were in good enough shape and 3 rights of trim but no lefts. It was a bit of a headache but everyone came through.

I know the owner of the original Sam Hollingsworth's Nomad. We are trying to get in contact with Revell, or the painter Dennis Ricklefs. If anyone out there could help that would be wonderful!

Over the years I have collected the Danbury Mints diecasts of various noteable street rods & customs. 3/4 years ago I signed up for a yearly rod or custom limited offering, last year I recieved their flyer on Hollingworth's Nomad, thinking it was to be based on Richard's car, so anxious to have it. Something went amiss with their plant operations in China and the Nomad was never made and now Danbury offers very few diecasts car models. The 1/24 scale detail is stunning and I really wanted to see how they would do those timeless Buick wires, not going to happen...Dyno Dave
