Technical Best Frame for a 1934 build

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by 37 Millrat, Feb 5, 2014.

  1. Been scrounging up parts for this 34 project (picture below). Was able to get a few pieces so far.
    Complete tudor roof clip.
    Back panel (crusty)
    2 nice rear fender we
    Sedan delivery door (picture below)

I may or may not use the sedan delivery door. The back of mine is so whooped it may make sense. The hunting for pieces is fun and you meet some pretty interesting and talented people.

I am also looking at buying a new chassis. I have my last project listed on craigslist trying to put some cash together. I would like to know if there is a frame MFG I should avoid? Who better to ask. I am using transverse Springs (stock springs) both front and rear.

    I need;
    Frame
    34 pass side door bottom
    clean back panel
section of dash under glove box
    rockers
panel in front of rear wheel wells
    Hood top
    Inner fenders (front)
    32, 33, 34 rear spring

  2. Just so happen to jump on here. When I see 34 I get excited. Screw new, rebuild old!

I may have a lead on a good 34 chassis with title if you message me. We can't sell titles here anymore and I can imagine why.

I can help ya, reach out. Again, go vintage!!!

I say use the door, a sedan delivery made from a sedan with windows would be cool.

Is that a fiberglass or steel rear door? If it's steel, it'll sell for big bucks. Use the profit to buy a complete sedan rear section and probably more.

  7. I should have posted it is fiberglass. Looks like an older job with wood frame on the inside. fiberglass jambs. I am not that lucky. Ha Ha

Everything fits so much nicer on an original frame especially if you are doing major sheet metal repair/replace.

  10. If you're doing a traditional build, then really try to find a good original 34 frame. They are out there and everything fits so nice and looks correct. Only reason I built a 'new' frame for my blown Hemi project is that I would had had to cut the living crap out of my original/mint one . . . just couldn't do it, so started from scratch with some ASC rails.

Keep looking - get a stocker!

  16. Don't have the sick fab skills it takes to pull that off. I appreciate those who do.
