I see Hagan's, Dan Fink, and Carolina Customs sells one, anyone have a opinion on which is best or other manufactures I may have missed.

    Regards,

Henry Ford got it right with his first design. Everyone else has been trying to build a better mouse trap. No one has succeeded yet.

Three piece hoods are just made for scraping paint and falling on your head.

Ill agree the fords 4 piece is nice but ive run a bunch of 3 piece hoods and i always use the fink kit.. 2nd best to fords idea.. And sorry but if its done right the 3 piece will open fine and you wont scrape the paint.. I do find the worst part of building a car is body to hood to radiator shell alignment.. Cause you to drink. When I did my coupe I came close to tossing the hood and buying another cause i was sure i fucked everything up ( 3 piece) .. I took a 2 day drinking break to settle my nerves then had everything in place one saturday. Funny how easy it went..

I make hoods. And I make my own hinges and latches. My hinge assy is similar to the Carolina Custom, and my latch is similar to the Dan Fink. The Fink hinge is hard to get lined up and to take the top off after the hood is mounted. It also does not have much adjustment in it. Better be right the first time!! The Fink latch is very good though. It really pulls the hood down tight and is not hard to locate. The Carolina Custom has a dual opening set-up which works pretty good, except if you use hood braces in the top it makes it hard to open because you have push the top in for the latches to clear the side braces. Their hinge is easily adjustable and pretty easy to mount. The whole unit is pretty well thought out.
If I had a choice between the two I would choose the Carolina Custom. Hope this helps.
