Never post anything political, even if it is relative to hot rodders and their striving to get things done for the better.

The key one for me is: "All of us are smarter than any of us." There is no question car so esoteric or specialized that some HAMB'er can't answer. (And almost no non-car question too.) And it's fun to see this in action, even for stuff I don't much care about.

It's usually worth the time to do it right, but sometimes 'good enough' is good enough.

HAMB'ers are 95(+)% cool, friendly, helpful people - helpful even to clueless noobs if they are at least somewhat respectful. And ignoring the other 5% is not hard.

Arguments about what's "traditional" are boring.

Use the search first before you make a post . Most of the time it has been covered before .
When making a reply to a question , don't be a smart *** ! One day you will be asking a question also !
Ask questions as needed and not to just make a post .
Just remember we are all here for the same thing so respect the other as you want them to respect you as well ! Things go much easier that way !

Now as for things I have learned on the HAMB , there isn't enough space for all the information I have acquired , all the help and the friends I have made over the years here on the HAMB ! You will never find a better group of guys and ladies than you will here on the HAMB anywhere ! Last , I that Ryan and the rest for all your hard work that you have done for all of us here on the HAMB !

    1. Don't read posts while taking a swig or hitting a cigar, as they are easily spat onto the computer from laughing! Now I gotta clean up this damn mess!

    2. I'd much rather read a build thread from a guy on the HAMB than watch any of those idiotic so-called " hot rod builder" shows on TV.

    3. People here might get mad if I post pictures of my Prius G***er.

The HAMB is friggin awesome. I have learned more from build threads, tech threads, and asking dumb questions then just going out and half ***ing my way through.

  11. Whatever you do, try to teach driveline maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection. Don't try to teach how to set up driveline angles or corrections.
You will have somebody without experience argue about your knowledge.
You will meet friends when we have a deal like the HAMB Drags. Ryan will give you a good handshake if ..................(his line)...........
    Beer.

  12. Yeah, Im happy that the keyboard got clagged up by spat out beer this time...........

  14. Oh, yeah....

The H.A.M.B. is at least 70% made up of Veterans.

I guess I learned this long ago but it reminds me, 100% Respect guys.

  18. 25 years ago, 50 years ago, that would have been incorrect too.
Probably like my punctuation and more. Yeah, brokUN tooo.
"Take a picture with your phone" is another.
Just a little bit of fun.

Or it could be a simple oversight which required a good natured ribbing. Also known as giving someone a hard time.

People from Kansas, Texas, and Missouri and friendly.
Most on the HAMB being an older person getting into Hotrods, age does not seem to matter. And at most show their does not seem to be and age problem. But at a couple of shows I felt totally left out, by the younger crowd.
And the best part of the HAMB is the group encourages you to learn and expand your talents, four years ago I could not weld sheet metal if my life depended on it and now I'm building a custom.

I've learned that about the most knowledgeble group of people I've ever come across are here on the HAMB.

And that they quietly will let their Tech and Info slip down the pages while the Drama Threads stay at the top...

    Besides all the fabrication stuff.

    1) The degrees of sepeartion between automotive enthusiasts (or HAMBers) is smaller than one thinks because somebody knows somebody related to somebody who lives near somebody related to somebody who knows somebody related to somebody related to you who knows somebody that you know.

    2) No matter how far out the question, how rare the part, or how strange the situation (automotive-wise and sometimes personal) someone has the answer, the part, and has been there - done that - and fixed it.

    3) The HAMB is autoshop 101, 102, ...infinity.

It's a great place to be addicted to.

The main thing I've learnt is to try to help where I can and to try to shut the **** up where I can't.

Ditto, I was treated very nicely in Fresno. :D And the HAMB Drags is better than a family reunion.

Some people on accept friendship request from people they are actually friends with.
