Projects Best Little Machine Shop in Texas...need to find one

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by fur biscuit, Apr 17, 2017.

  1. Projects and timing. Never shall the two meet with money in hand. Either way, any recommendations for a machine shop in Texas. I am located in Houston, but will travel. The project in question will be a highly modified T block. Thanks.

What kind of work do you need? Standard rebuild or all out race motor?

All in Houston: Faerman facing engines. Westside performance (I've used them - good)
    Whatleys automotive. Scroggins automotive

    Llano- Texas engine machine

There's a shop in college station that knows old motors but I don't remember the name

  4. Dallas, decent breweries, not the best breakfast taco's. But a start. Thank you!

  5. Going to start with the rotating assembly. Need a shop knowledgeable in the ways of installing insert bearings. If that is a no go, will have to find a place to rebabbit the mains, which is a whole different kettle of fish. On the easier side, need to have the crank finish machined, as the first part was done (shortening), now it needs to be finished (bearing surfaces, radii, etc).

The easier bits like installing valve seats and valves and decking everything is pretty straight forward.

I will end up building the pressure mains if I go that route. Don't plan on reving much past 3.5k anyways.

    Thank you.
