Those ones they sell at Murrays with the 2 elements for a propane tank aren't bad.Stay away from the kerosene heaters.Heat the garage fast but are rough on the lungs and leave black **** everywhere. Now I have a large garage with gas heat and you don't want to see the gas bill.
With the dayton heaters running on 220. How big of a jump does it do to your electric bill? I run a kerosene torpedo heater and use about 65 bucks worth a season. Thats about four months. I have a shop 37x20x12 feet high fully insulated but don't really care for the potential risk of kerosene. I run it for 20 minutes and its good for about 4 hours. Also how noisy is it ? I don't want it interfering with my soap operas. Thanks
My heater, same as the one posted before mounted from the ceiling, is real quiet, you just hear the fan. Mine is not used often, maybe 2 3 times a month so I cannot say how huch the bill has gone up..
Great post. I was just looking at one of those yesterday and was wondering how well they worked and if they were a fire hazard. I have 480 square feet with 60 amp service and a 220 V welder plug.
Work harder...you'll warm up. CTFuzz: that crazy robot scares me. I'd be afraid he'd kill me in my sleep or steal my medication. Lucky I have Old Glory Robot Insurance. <object width="512" height="296"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/wdIwrWS8DmSXIKV**d6nbA"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/wdIwrWS8DmSXIKV**d6nbA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" width="512" height="296"></embed></object>
I have been using Old Glory Robot Insurance for eight years now....................Only had to make one claim all this time(forgot to put the aluminum foil on my head) I'm much better now.
Has anyone tried Infa red heaters like this? Enco sells them for 130 bucks. http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=505-0881&PMPXNO=951768&PARTPG=INLMK3 I'd love any feed back it says it's instantanous but only worms objects and not air. hell I'm an object?
I'm curious on that one as well. I patched up an American Standard forced hot air oil burner for my garage this winter. Put a new Beckett burner on it and damn it gets cozy in a reall drafty uninsulated garage. When it quits, out it goes and I'll get something more modern. Curious on the cost of the electric units.
I've had good luck with this one for my 2.5 car mancave. Did lots of searching. This one is from carguygarage.com. Great heater for the price, and it can be mounted on the wall, ceiling, or it can be used on the floor. Using gas just isn't an option for me-my gas bill is already too high. This is safer. It stays on the floor in the winter(you know how cold it gets under the hotrod-even if it's 65-70 degrees on the thermometer) to warm the lower areas. My eyeballs get dried out from the square Dayton units, not to mention static electricity. Nothing worse than sweating with your feet still cold IMO. I bolt it back to the ceiling when not in use. Check it out. Jay
I bought a pellet stove this winter for my 20x30. A little more money up front, i got it for $1000 on craigslist. Its a really nice heat, no smell, really quiet. And costs about $2.50 a day to run at full blast. I think its about 34000 BTU.
I use one of the small propane bullet / forced air blower heaters in my (fully insulated) 32 x 40. On a 20 degree night it will heat it from the 50's to 70's in about an hour and will stay warm about 2 hour before I have to turn it back on. I run it 3-4 times a week this way from Nov/Dec thru March and usually go thought 1 to 1-1/2 100 lbs tank of propane each winter.
I apologize for bumping this old topic, but I have done quite a bit of research on this, so I want to share my experience. I have to say that the use of ventless heaters won't get much support around here. A lot of folks who are connected with the heating industry take a very dim view of these types of heaters. In Canada and some parts of the US, they are not allowed to be used because of the potential of poisoning by carbon monoxide. By the way, about Canada. Does anybody know a good casino in Canada? I mean, online casinos. What do you think about Tangiers online casino? Has anybody tried it? Recently found this article-review - https://bestcasinos-ca.com/reviews/tangiers-casino.php. What do you think, guys? Is it worth my attention? My friend tried it and said it was good, but I wanted to hear your opinion.
I used a 34,000 btu hanging electric heater w/fan , does a great job. My garage is 22 x 22 with ceiling a 9ft. Sent from my SM-J320P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
About 10 years ago I bought a beacon/Morris hanging gas heater from my local Menards store. I love it it heats my 24x30 garage great.
