I'd look in magazines like Rod and Kulture and got to a lot of car show to get an idea of what you both like for a car.
When you find a car that intrest you both then start your search.

There are many sources, Autotrader.com, e-bay, and message boards like this. Be patience and go for what you both want.
You will save money and time in the long haul.

Go to carnut.com. You can explore there for hours. He has 1000's of photos of cars representing about every make and model from many eras.
Nothings as good as the real thing so go to as many events as you can stand. You'll see everything under the sun and LOTS of it is for sale. Most cars can be bought cheaper than they can be built.
Me and my buddies favorite expression is "anybody can buy a car but it takes a real man to spend more money and countless hours to build the same thing"

In the long run you'll save time and money if you start with a whole car, rather than starting with a bare body and then researching, choosing, finding, and buying every part.

  7. Ford Barn (www.fordbarn.com) is a good place to get pre-WWII Fords and parts.

I too, needed room for four and got a '28 Model A tudor sedan there.

Sounds like the first step in the project will be for you to decide what era/type car you prefer. If you're like most here, you're going to spend lots and lots of time on this project, not to mention sweat and possibly some blood, too. So go down and buy some hot rod type magazines. Look at them, then look some more. Then buy more and look some more. Then search the internet and look at cars here. You'll be looking one day, and when you lay eyes on that certain car, your jaw will drop and then you'll know that you've found the ONE THAT YOU HAVE TO HAVE. When you get that step out of the way, go searching for that car...
