Technical Best single stage touch up paint

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 57chevymadman, Oct 22, 2024.

  1. I have jet black single stage paint that needs a few small chip touch ups.

I'm looking for something that isn't too thin and runny if thats even a word lol

Tons of choices out there, what are yiz using?

    TIA!!!

Everything I've tried is too thin and doesn't work well. I finally just went to my local automotive paint supplier and bought a very small amount of acrylic urethane enamel in a can and use it to touch up. It takes overnight to setup hard and then I can wet sand the chips and buff them to make them disappear.

When's the last time you were in a nail salon, they have way more selection! I use Black Fingernail polish on the Willys, no matter what you use you will have to build it up over time and knock it down. I have a friend with a factory custom HD painted fairing, he found the exact same match at the solon, go figure. Sally Hansen, Miricle GEL Black!

I use the thin stuff, tip some into a bottle cap and let stand for an hour or so to let some solvent evaporate off and it gets thicker.

Finish off with clear from a rattle can, sprayed in the lid and then brushed on the chip to blend it in

Testers model paint. I can almost smell the glue from here.

    It’s enamel.
When I want to thicken it up, just shake it up and let the lid sit for a bit and then dab the paint that’s thickened up in the lid.
