Hey,Y'all, Good morning. I am trying to track down some rocker panels and "hip" sections (lower front quarter panel) for a 51 chevy we have at the shop as a project. I used some before, but un-caffinated, I can't remember where the heck they came from. anybody have a good suggestion? some better than others? I would prefer nicer stuff than "cheap but works" if possible. Thanks,Fellers (and ladies!)

Try Chevs of the 40's. They have a large selection of chevy car parts including patch panels. www.chevsofthe40s.com
I've used panels from National Chevy ***ociation...IMO, they're great for the price. I still have to patch the spot under my gravel-guard (which I think is the same place you're patching)...NCA has that one for around $30. Attached is a pic of NCA's quarter panel patch. Bryan
I just did lower front quarters and outer rockers on my 51 from http://www.emsautomotive.com/rubber.htm ..they fit pretty good, I had no complaints.
I got my patch panels from Impala Bobs over in Arizona, just another choice since no one mentioned it.
The pieces I've seen from EMS have looked good. Now if they were an Alliance vendor, that would be even better.
If this is the same place I'm thinking oif... they're in Georgia, eright? I ordered rockers for my 52 a while back and had them bring them to the Charlotte Auto Fair later that week. When I went to pick them up, they were VERY flimsy-- so thin the metal only had one side! I ended up fab'ing my own from 18 ga. I re-shaped them to flare out more like a 55 Chevy, and I think it looks pretty decent. I just did it all on a brake... to get the curves, I put it in the brake, gave the slightest bend I could, them moved the sheet metal about 1/8" and did it again. Lather-rinse-repeat. Not the best photo to show what they look like, but maybe you can get the drift.
I never noticed that on your car, Slide...nice touch. Another vote for EMS as an Alliance Vendor...IMO, those patches are the highest quality out there. Bryan
Thanks... the flat black was an accident, but it's grown on me. When you mix a 1/2 gallon of bright purple primer with 1 quart of black, that's what comes out. So I guess it's really really really really really really really dark purple!
to: lux blue, your unknown parts source from georgia is not ems automotive. we are from cleveland, so it would seem that your rocker came from someone else, sorry you had a problem. all ems prodcuts are tagged with the part number, our name and telephone number, if the part does not have our part label then it smply is not a ems automotive product. thanks for all the kind words from hamber's who are satisfied customers. we have been discussing the topic of the allance vendor program with a few of our more progrssive dealers.
@ EMS-- I was referring to Obsolete that is (or was?) in GA. I have used EMS stuff for other cars, and I was very impressed with the quality of the EMS parts. (No personal experience with the 51-52 Chevy stuff since none of that was available when I did that part of my car. My dad and I fabricated our own patch panels on this one out of necessity.) I think you may have misread my previous post as it was quoted in LUX BLUE's post, thinking I was referring to you when I was really referring to someone else.
I ordered it all from e.m.s. Good folks on the phone, they had it all in stock, and it should be here this week. You guys need to become an alliance vendor, reeeally bad. either that, or tell me what I need to do to become a dealer, and I could p*** on the savings. so far, this has been the most h***le free ordering process I have gone through in a long time. if the quality is as nice as it is in the pix, I can't imagine wanting to use anyone else. they make alot of parts for alot of cars,y'all. you should check 'em out.
