Me and My dad have used blue magic and a towel on chrome Then on his truck for the tanks and wheels which are aluminum we use the green chrome rouge on a buffer then go over that with blue magic
i use 0000 wool all the time doesn't dull chrome mix a little warm water and dish soap works great don't use a sos pad use 0000 steel wool from harware store 3 bucks
I have used Phosphoric acid on very badly rusted motorcycle wheels and fenders. It does dissolve the rust but leaves a slightly dull finish on the surface. At a distance, it looks good but that is because you are looking at pits of bare steel that must be waxed to keep it from re-rusting. I have also used sodium hydroxide that dissolves rust. That works well inside gas tanks to remove that god awful black slime of dried gas and rust. Leaves it sparklingly clean.
Iv'e used coke and alumium foil..... works well, and gets rid of leftover coke. (good to get rid of oil stains on the driveway too!)
I found general chrome cleaner to clean it up and then use Ankor wax to protect the steel patches so it doesn't rerust works great
With the glowing recomendation of quick-glo and after watching the videos they posted, I'm going to give it a try. I will try to shoot some video with a HD camera if it works at all. If it works, I'll post the video. I have a good amount of cleanup on a '50 poncho grille to do.
