Guys I have 2 230 Pontiac OHC 66-67 motors. The one barrel motor has a 3 speed automatic and they sit horizontally together. The sprint & 3speed, on the other hand, wants to lean as these quadrajet manifolds & dual exhaust manifolds & 10.0-1 compression twin spring valves make it heavier and also awkward in adherence to gravity. So do you all think I should separate them, and shore up the cammer, or shore up the complete drivetrain? I ask because once upon a while ago now I bought a pair of camel hump hi compression heads drilled for a 400 SBC, and had had some port work done in their lifetime, but the valvesprings checked out ok, I still changed them, but this fellow had them off the engine and that's how they stayed, as he wasn't able to find a 400,with his time, & devotion primarily focused on his Harley's, and offload monster weird contraptions people make to climb around, and make worlds dumbest videos. Anyhow, it seems he was right, as the explanation goes that while on a non running engine at least 2 springs are compressed with open valves and after a few months of compression, they'll likely fail and drop a valve. So that recurring memory has me curious about clutch plates & related, which comes back to my question : Separate & store or leave assembly and store? Because these are an iron giant.
Leave assembled. Oil the cylinders. Seal up the carb, or any openings. Put it in a dry place and cover with cloth NOT plastic. Anything stored under plastic will rust and corrode.
Can you back off the adjustment on the rockers without taking the thing all apart? I've never been inside the top of one of these things to see how they're rigged up.
There is no adjustment on the rockers as there are none it has an overhead cam with hydraulic lash adjusters ans cam followers
