Model Bettie Page hospitalized after heart attack

    Associated Press
    4:47 PM PST, December 5, 2008

Bettie Page, one of the most notable models of the 20th century, is hospitalized in intensive care after suffering a heart attack in Los Angeles.

Mark Roesler, Page's agent and attorney, says the 85-year-old is "critically ill." He says she suffered a heart attack Tuesday and remains hospitalized.

He would not comment further on her condition.

Page, a secretary turned model, is credited with helping set the stage for the sexual revolution of the rebellious 1960s. She attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure in bikinis and lingerie that were tacked up on walls in military barracks, garages and elsewhere.

The Gloria Steinems,Gloria Allreds,Billie Jean Kings and Madonnas all assume they've made great strides for females and feminity thru the years.
Bettie designed and stitched all her own suits and swimwear, set up and managed her photography sessions and controlled the content and was a physical fitness afficionado probably before "Charles Atlas" and Jack Lalane got the idea.
Not cutting women or demeaning any of their accomplishments, but Bettie was there first.

The funky conical bra Madonna sported...Yep,Bettie glued her own together.

    Viva Bettie,a true "tradionalist!
No wonder we like her so much?! Well, that's one reason huh? Haa haa

    I second that, Ranunculous!
Bettie Page was the foundation and model for many of todays 'icons'. she lived a life with many whirlwinds and emotional times that it's amazing she managed all she did, brought forth new ideas to modeling and chesscake photography, and still kept that memorable smile...which was my initial attraction to her.
Many prayers and good wishes go out to her.
By the looks of that pic at 83, she still has it!

The only time my wife ever gave me the "EVIL" about another woman was over Bettie Page. Then I had to do some back peddling to explain who this mystery woman and why I knew so much about her and why I was in a state of excited frenzy.

It was at the KKOA meet in Gettysburg and there was a booth selling BP pictures. These were pictures that I had never seen before, so I had to assume that they were part of the Irwin (sp?) Klaw negatives that were supposed to have be destroyed but possibly were not. Unfortunately the vendor hasnt been back since.

Good luck and wishing a speedy recovery

    Salt 2009,
Did the seller of the Irving Klaw b/w pics have two notebooks of 4x5 pics?
He was sporting a slicker back do' with pegged jeans and a white tee shirt?
That guy was at spring Carlisle years back with the same collection (if he's the one and the same).
Unfortunately, the pics did look to be the real deal and the both of us missed out...
Wish us both luck for another day.
    Still best wishes to Bettie!

    Keefauver still sucked!

Her kind of beauty never goes out of style. That direct "look you in the eye", "...like she can see you. So classy. I hope she pulls through.

A gal that did it her own way without burnin' herself out in the process. 85 years old is an eternity when you consider how young Janis Joplin, Marilyn Monroe, and many others died. Bettie is truly a class act and drop dead gorgeous. Thoughts and prayers go out for her rapid recovery.

  27. There's no telling where Bettie Page will pop up! Spotted these photo magnets on a table at an outdoor estate auction a couple months ago. Wish I'd been able to stick around and bid on them. They were almost as photogenic as the real thing.

She's survived a lot of setbacks in her life; hope this is another one!
