Beware of con-artists

Discussion in 'Questions & Suggestions' started by Exmonkeypunk, Feb 4, 2006.

  1. I had my car posted here a week or so ago. It was the Plum crazy 66 satellite that i posted. First off, i'm sorry I posted it. I guess I skipped over the part where it told me the cutoff on years. But i went back and read it over again and caught my mistake. But with that aside, I just wanted to let you know that 2 days after i posted it for sale, a guy showed up wanting to purchase it. He didnt say his name, but he said he saw the ad on the hamb. He had with him an envelope with cash in it and was prepaired to purchase the vehicle right then. I almost sold it when i noticed that the money he had
handed me was fake. It was counterfeit 100dollar bills. i wouldn't have noticed but the money was only one sided. after pointing that out the man called me some names, threatened to call the cops on me and drove off. i just wanted to put out the warning to everyone that there is someone goin around trying to scam people for cl***ic cars. JOSH

    Who are you?

    Where did you come from?

How do we know you aren't ****ing with us?

You have to have more detail than "he said he saw it on the HAMB"... You mean to tell us you don't know the guys HAMB name? Real name? Nothing? He just showed up on your door step?

    Sounds fishy to me homie...

What kind of dumb-*** tries to p*** off one sided bills? Never seen someone trust amounts of cash. Every time I have seen a car sold the buyer counts the money. Either the guy was a complete backwoods ***** or the story is fabricated....? With 17 posts I say your chances of getting sympathy are not good. Your other posts about being a little pissed off at the Hamb moderaters don't really help us believe either.

    YES.

Everyone MUST beware of con-artists. (This is where you can put the joke about the guy who painted prisoners...)

Thank you for the great service you have done for the HAMB.

You are a pillar of information, knowledge and wisdom and I don't know what we would do without you.

I suppose the would-be con-artist rode up on a bicycle or walked, so there was no way to get at least his license plate number. Damn, I hate those mormon-turned-mopar-fan-evil-doers. Were the fake bills Sublime green?

    Some Story Josh....

I wish my dad was still alive...he told me about when he was young and sailing the Lakes...about con men and their so-called "Michigan Bankrolls"...(aka "Jersey Bankroll")--a few big bills on top with a lot of green paper underneath....He'd get a kick out of this story. He liked storys....

But fake $100 bills, printed on one side only?...sounds like a "Kinko's Bankroll" to me...

And there's Nothing wrong with showing up with REAL $100 bills..my old buddy, George W. Hofacker, Sr., in Grand Rapids, MI bought a lot of old cars..(mostly anything '36 Ford) by doing what he called "flashing the cash"...and he always carried a bunch of real $100 bills...it often convinced the seller to take his offer--CASH MONEY GREEN!!! and it worked most of the time--he's got a barn full of '36's--mostly open cars....

And if any fool showed up with fake $100's at my place, rest ***ured that he wouldn't be crying about calling the law on ME...

My always loaded, legally owned/carried mint condition 1945 vintage 1911A1 Remington-Rand .45 pistola would be pointed at his midsection, with the offer of opening him up so everyone could see what he had for Breakfast if he dared to move, while we waited for the Michigan State Police to show up....and take over to finish the before-mentioned Citizen's arrest and the resulting paperwork.

(BTW, my government taught me how to kill with this particular variety of small arms, while on Active Duty in the USNR, when I was just out of college. I'm just as good at pistol shooting as I am at fixing rust-out on a Model A Ford)

I'm wondering how this guy with the fake money found out where you lived?...you forgot to put that part into the Story..
