Sorry to hear all this but, every once in a while it happens and ruins things for all the honest folks out there. It's a shame that a man can't let his word be good as gold. That type of scum needs to be taken down in a big way. I hope you get him. Don't ever give up and let us know what happens. Good luck.

i would be curious..is that his real name?
why would an english speaking person use a spanish word for Lawyer?
and it also makes me doubt if he was one. (lawyer that is)
My wife is spanish, and im a heavy industrial contractor but i dont have my job title in spanish..this clown is fishy in so many ways.

Also keep in mind it would be easy to post an ad with a fake location as a diversion to throw you off his trail, when he could actually be 2000mi. east.

In it for a good outcome for Pete. Im in Colorado and would be happy to help administer some mob justice for a good cause. I got ripped for $500 four years ago and never got anything back.

Retired lawyer...that explains it. He is trying to relive his past when he stole from his clients...Bring a couple boys from the Outback up and explain that it is not nice to steal.

Pete, I will try to do some more checking on him here in MN. If he was a lawyer, there will be more records.

FYI, Paul Webster is his name. Pete was able to track down some relatives in MN. If he is a "retired" lawyer it is very likely that he got retired as he is not much over 45 yo if I remember correctly. I will call the State to see what I can dig up on licensing for him if I get another chance today.

Good luck Pete, way to keep an eye open for him.

funny someone was saying he is only around 45 something? a lawyer dont retire around 40 they just get started paying off their education..maybe Dis-Barred is what he ment? and maybe thats why he used such an uncommon way to say lawyer?
Keep digging on this guy...theres a stake ready some where for his burning.
and its about time a lawyer got screwed.

Have you tried a ZabaSearch for Paul Webster in both MN and CO? It's a good way to find phone numbers, previous locations, RELATIVES, date of birth, etc. A lot of it is free, but some of it for a small fee you can get a little more!

    www.zabasearch.com

Hope that helps in some way. May as well learn everything you can about him if for no other reason than just to mess with him. RAW DEAL for sure! I really hope he's brought to justice. If it were me I would probably pay whatever small fee I had to, just to get leverage on the situation.

    Keep us posted!

Another point, there are several Paul Websters in MN and it is my understanding that none of the ones currently listed in the phone books is the man.

I rechecked my sources to confirm the age and he would be 48 yo, Paul C. Webster. As far as profession goes, on the HAMB he said he was in financial, now he is trying to say lawyer, not holding out much hope for that.

its real hard for scammers to keep the story straight..^^ I dont hold much wight in the " was a lawyer thing" as i said originally hes a fake..

and i would be wondering where he really lives and what his real full name is..and what he really does do for a living..other than scam people.

The one thing that has remained constant has been the email address. It's there in the old HAMB posts, it's there in the recent fordbarn post, and it's in the snowcat posts from earlier this year. The old HAMB posts have a MN (cell?) phone, (as does a post I found from him WTB an Allison tractor to restore on a german tractor board...explain *that* one...) The newer ones mention CO and/or the CO phone number.

I suppose it's possible that the guy in CO is a different Paul Webster who just mistyped his email address...but...3 times in different places? (fordbarn, snowcat, candadian wantads) Odds are against it.

My guess is he moved from MN to CO, and bought the motel from Wayne and Barbara when they retired. Just a guess tho.

  20. Geezy Loowezee !! I just finished reading all the responses on this post . This is more of a brotherhood than a website . I'm really taken by the offers of help to a fellow HAMBster .

I haven't had much time this afternoon to do any calling. It looks like the guys I was going to call are not the people in charge of licensing lawyers anyway.

    I found this page:
    http://www.mncourts.gov/mars/

But did not find him there and I also tried to look him up at the Mn bar association and he was not there. My guess is that he was not a lawyer in Mn.

Mr Webster did live in MN, prior to his move to CO. He has lived in several places in the south and west Metro area. His father still lives in the west Metro. I would doubt the guy has the ability to buy the motel, chances are he skipped town for a while maybe some friends in CO, but will be back this way sometime.

If I feel the need to post his info I will make a thread about it, I just sent him another email and told him what my next step is going to be. Some people can't believe I am going through all of this trouble over $75 but I think it's a matter of principal and I even talked to him on the phone and he said he would pay me back.

I have to ask, since he nailed you for 12K, did you actually meet him in person? Did he come to you to pick up parts or a car? And last but not least, and not being a smartass because I hate thieves and liars (Example: The Whizzz from Whizz Magazine selling bogus subscriptions to his model magazine, who I posted about here a few weeks back, and have filed fraud claims against.....), why did you let him take anything from you without getting your dough? Is the 12K a partial amount from what he owed you? As much as we all like to trust our fellow hotrodders, unfortunately there are scammers out there still. There's a guy in the Daytona area, who's scamming is so unbelievably far reaching around the U.S. it's unreal. I can't tell you how many people this asswipe has gotten money and/or stuff from and left them holding the empty bag, that I have met in the last 10 years! I hope you get your $$$ back, or maybe just the satisfaction of beating the shit out of him. Wouldn't ya' just like to show up on his doorstep with about 50 of these guys wearing HAMB t-shirts?!

Scary! I just added this site to my favorites, thanks. Several of his previous MN addresses are in the list. You should check it out Pete and see if currently any Webster lives at any of the addresses listed, with any luck you might catch his ex-wife and be able to give her his current location -- he is probably hiding out from her.
