ok, been lookin for tires for my 64 chevy pickup, I really dont like how radials look, so i found some bias-plys that i really like. Is there a big safty risk in running bias-plys? I see them on everything at the shows so they cant be too bad right? Maybe a little input from all of you who know will help.

  4. Several dozen times; but it's plenty safe, how do you think cars drove cross-country on bad roads fifty years ago?

  5. They slide bad in the rain, worse in the snow. They follow every groove in the road, and even some that aren't there. They ride harder, and can develop flat spots. They wear out faster.

True, you'll see 'em at shows, but do you really know if the cars have been driven very far?? Sometimes (often, actually), there is a trailer parked just around the corner. Or the owner lives a half-block away.

Your choice, but there IS a reason that they are no longer installed as OEM, and are getting hard to find.

Oh, yeah, unless its a gennie GoodYear, Firestone, etc., the repops have been getting a lot of bad press for out-of-round, tread separation, etc. And a lot of repops are made in the same moulds, with the name on 'em.

  6. They look better, and on some things you just have to have them, but they detract greatly from the enjoyment of driving your vehicle, IMO.
