I know a few guys in town that run a 14-71 on a 468. The car runs low 7's, high 6's at 160+.

180 is a mighty tall order.

here's all the math i need for this thread > march 2005-dec 1985 = 19 year old know-it-all. dude i hate to add fuel to this fire, but that car's a BRICK, and it'll take a lot more motor and a lot of space to go that fast. the fact that you're so much smarter than EVERYONE you've 'discussed' this with should be a clear signal that you're completely out of your mind. put away the calculator and take a deep breath of reality. go out and PROVE how fast the car is. maybe we're all missing something, but i doubt it...

    X2

This went on to some PM's from Milner. I hadn't replyed yet, but suspected this was the case.
    Any way here's #1
    And #2
I'm pretty much speechless!!! The thing I love about numbers is you can sit and crunch them upside down and inside out. But that all goes out the window when the rubber meets the road.
With calulations Milner you could in therory mind you, with the right gears get a car to go to infinity. But WTF? I'm not sure how fast you've been in a real car for any duration, but lets just say anything over 120 for a prolonged time is way too much outside of NASCAR. And anything over 100 on the street in an antiquated car is bordering on suicide.

Real world eye opener. Last Friday night a 22 year veteran of the Houston Fire Dept was killed in his dream car at Westheimer and Westheimer Place. What was his dream car, a Dodge Swinger. Yes it was bad ass, he ran Bigs, & Skinny's, and some very serious motor. You know what happened? He got rearended while he was doing 50 by an import. The import guy walked away(well into the backseat of a police cruiser). The Swinger fishtailed and went into a roll. Antiquated vehicles are dangerous when compared to new shit on the road. I love my antiquated shit, but I don't try to break land speed records with it on the street. And you are just one stupid MF'r if you think you plan to put a car up into the speeds you are talking about on the street. I already care none for you life, but think about others on the road you self indulged know it all.

Oh and for my safety's sake please move to Fayetteville sooner than later.

  4. well i see why so many of the younger generation are moving away from older cars and the tradational rods cause of people being close minded to the technology out today, first off no one knows what engine, transmission im running, they dont know what was done to the engine or transmission, they dont know the weight of the car, they dont know what it ran when the orignal owner was racing the car, ect

Also just cause some idiot fliped a car getting hit from the back dosent mean that everyone will. thats just some freak accident. i doubt a vehicle like mine that has the center of gravity is 16" from ground and the car is 56" tall from ground to roof. so with the center of gravity being so low i doubt a lil fucking 2500 lb ricer will cause this car to flip unless its hit just right which will be very unlikely.

Okay,I'm a little lost here.......would the "idiot" be guy that got hit or the guy with the 63 on Bias plys with a lift kit?

  6. Ok there are no bias ply tires on the car, theres radials all around, 29" tall radials in the back 27" in the front, so no lift kit, and no bias ply, i was asking about the biasply, and if this fucking shit going to carry on like this i might as well not respond anymore cause this site is no fucking better than the others with what i call posers cause first off to say the older cars are more dangrous you dont know what the fuck your talking about, every single fucking day theres a wreck or a brand new car fliped, now take that out of the few hundred older cars, you probly get one or two which were damage or hit due to no fault of the owner.

now i call everyone idiot but if a car getting hit from the back causes it to flip for no fucking reasion then that car wasnt stable enough to have passed inspection of being road safe or wrothy cause only way these older cars will go to flip is if the car was slid into a curb and the wheels are pulled out from under it or a tire blows out going over 120mph and causes the car to roll. but other than that a moving vehicle going 50 mph getting hit from behind wouldnt get fliped by a lil fucking import unless that import was going way over 160 mph to have enough momentum in that 2500lb tin foil and plastic car to even fase a older detriot iron vehicle. Also you put kids that dont know how to drive these cars that drive new cars all their life they wont know how to drive them. When i was taught how to drive i was taught by my father which just happened to be a drag racer in the 60`s, had hotrods and customs, and even had this car racing it on the street.

very entertaining thread, reminds me of my teens, when me and a bunch of buddies would sit around and bullshit about how fast our cars would be...

Milner62, not a jab at you man, I was your age not too long ago, but what's on paper and what happens on the street are often two very different things. Take a look at some of those Hot Rod magazines from the past couple of years where people were running their bad ass "street cars" through the paces. Look at the power they were making, and what it took to get it on the road, and how often they broke doing it. They were well planned and executed cars, and they barely if ever worked out like they thought they would.

So Milner62, are you coming to the HAMB drags or what?

I'll race you in my '64 Impala with radials.

When you get your bias-plys from Coker, stand and watch them balance them, it's very illuminating.

Milner...honest to God man...you need to step back and look at the big picture.
Go away for awhile...take a break...get over the trashing you got on the other boards...come back in a couple of weeks and just read to see what this place is about...don't post at first. SERIOUSLY!

THIS place is all about nostalgic cars...Building them, loving them, wishing you could have them, customizing them AND racing them. You could fit in if you didn't try to be the teacher all the time.

Where did you pick up all this incredible knowledge you seem convinced you have?
    Your 19 years old!!!
HOW can you come here, or ANYWHERE FTM, and start spouting off about "secret" engines and Pro-Mod ET's from a STOCK steel brick on street bias/plies?

You sound like Jim Carry describing his HOG on "Dumb & Dumber"...

    Sigh....

You NEED to pull the "staff of Superiority" from your ass and get humble...It'll do you a world of good.

Seriously, this kid OBVIOUSLY already knows all there is to know, so why's he on here asking the questions he asks?

He must be testing us, yeah, that's it... testing...

Man, just relax, and take your car to the track... even once... and it'll humble you in a hurry....

The first car I ever built was a '77 nova with a hot SBC in it (I was 15). I could smoke ANYTHING on the streets with that car. It EASILY ran mid to low 11's, so I took it to the track...

I wonder if I still have those 14.30 time slips around here anywhere???

    The ad reads:

"FOR SALE: One slightly mangled 63 Chevy that looks like it hit a longhorn at 80mph. Super-Secret 383 small block with Top Fuel horsepower now located in glovebox. Very fast on bias radials, will also include a 10 second calculator with sale. Funeral costs force scarifice of this one-time land speed record contender..."

You are, by all indications so far, a moron. And you are a jackass for continually reminding us about it.

It can be done and I think you are on to something. I would go ahead and get those tires mounted up and get the chassis tuned in to hook with them.
When I was in High School I had a car that wasnt quite as fast as yours but close one day I woke up and decided to show the world what it could do and I went to the Drag strip, WOW what a day I ran a consistent 17.56 all day long with a 5.20 light. If I was you I would buy the tires run it both ways with them and without them see what you like the best. Bring that thing to the H.A.M.B drags keep your hood shut and show these guys what you have.
