Anyone running A big and little tire set up on 14" wheels? I have a set of 14x6 general jumbo's that are going on My 34 ford no fender pickup. I am in the tire buying stage and looking for size ideas. I want the rubber rake look to it. A little harder to do with the same wheels on all for corners. Bias is prefered and has to look right. I know a Hamber is been down this road and mite have a pic or 2. Mite get lucky and have to buy tires only once. thanks

You will probably catch hell for this on but you asked a Question .
14 in wheels are ok on the fronts but 14 in rear wheels on your PU
probably won't have the LOOK you want because you can't buy tall
14 in tires .I have a 39 hev coupe with 14 on front and 15 on back
I run 185 70 14 on front and 245 60 on back .It does make it look Street Roddy
. It ain't much but its what I got.

I now 15 are the way to go. But I have the 14" wheels. Been back and forth on using them. But now it is My goal at least to mock them up. or I can start looking for a pair of 15". that are getting realy hard to find. B.F. Goodrich makes a 950-14 thats 29 1/2 tall ?

14's in the front & 15's in the rear - that's what I would do

  6. IMHO 14'' wheels on an open wheeled car is a huge NO, unless you're trying for some bad OSR look in which case inappropriatly small wheels and ugly radials seems standard. For a good looking Hot Rod, 16" wheels should be standard practice, then maybe 15 if you want to loose a bit of the look but 14 never.

    why is 14's a no no ?
Tires are not as easy to get as they used to be , definatly not as cheap either.
I ended up with Mickey Thompson indy profile on rear , I needed wide cause I have 8" rim. **** all the whiners, I found the full set of daisy spokes for $75 at a swap , I'll use them til an affordable set of 15's pop up .

I know it's not traditional but I had 14x6 General Jumbos on my 47 Ford in 1958.
The tires were easier to come by then. I had 9:50's on the rear and and 6:40's
on the front. Should be able to find something that's work. My ol 280Z has 14's
stock and they still sell those tires (radials)

I ran 14" American racing wheels on my car for a while. Found a set of 205/65/R14s white walls i ran on the back, and used low pro blizzaks on the front. Now i run 235/75/R15s on the back on steel wheels, and low pro Radial T/As on the front. 14s of course

This is with the cheaters on the back. same size as the radials i run

15's in the front, 16's in the rear. Or 16's all the way around, that's how I would do it. Not that I dislike the tall tire look with a smaller wheel, just think it looks a little better with the 16's. A buddy of mine built a bad *** roadster and he put 15's on it. It looked freekin cool. Then he put 16's on it about a year later, and it took the cake. I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but it did....

I can't find a photo at the moment but I ran 14x7 and 14x8-1/2 Crager Mach 8's on the 48 in the late 70's and early 80's Had something like E 70's on the front and N 50's on the back. The rears were pretty low profile.

I'm kinda like Capt Chaos in thinking that tall tires for 14 inch rims are going to be hard to find and damned expensive when you do find them.

For the rears, use 9.50X14 tires. They came on older 50' Chryslers

I have the Hurst slick and a super cushion. I my mind, for cool factor . I am leaning toward 950-14 on the rear and 560-14 on the front in the B.F.G's bias.

14" tires from the mainstream tire companies are pretty limited in size these days, but if you go with Coker, Hurst, etc. you can get them tall enough to work.
