A lot of great old vehicles, but this ad copy hype from the auction site is a little debatable:

Well, we all know that when it comes to old cars, if it says it on the internet it has to be true!

Two things will probably run the bids up on a lot of those cab overs. 1. you don't have to take the whole truck you can just take what you want and they will haul the ch***is to their s**** yard. 2. You have a year to pick them up. I p***ed on a rig a couple of years ago that was about 300 miles away from me that ended up going for less than I was willing to pay simply because the time frame to pick it up wouldn't work for me. They probably cost the sellers untold thousands simply because the time to pick the rigs up was so tight. On this one a guy can plan his road trip and maybe even turn it into a vacation trip with some side trips rather than a race straight there and race home deal.

Still the bidding on the one I was really interested in went past my top line so I am out.

  9. The auction is over, the final prices are posted, everything went well over s**** prices, so hundred of new projects and parts vehicles have been released. These are heady times.

I ended up with one of the trucks from this auction, '92 f250 so way off topic for here. Now I just need to get it home.
I would have liked to have about half the stuff there, even if just for yard art.

I'm enjoying a click-through to see what the prices were, and I'm only in a few pages but looks like pretty strong money, especially for big trucks. Pretty surprising so far. A couple of bargains (at a glance, at least) but not too many I'd say.

I was surprised at how low the 32/33 Ford fuel truck went for $2575. At first it was identified as a 35 then as 34 but it was definitely 32/33. I was out when it went otherwise I'd have been on it. For those not watching the bidding, I thought it was somewhat like a live auction with ten or more rings going at once . Items didn't just sell in the order listed, when it got down to around a minute left a bid added a minute to it and kept going that way until all bidding on it stopped and the clock ran out, so no sniping. For instance items 124 and 128 could still be up but those in between would already be gone.

That is the normal way that auction system works on all of their auctions. There is no sniping in that you can't bid at the last second and snipe the item it comes back for a minute for anyone else to bid just as happens if you were standing there in a live auction in person. I bought an ot car though them with a "that's it win or loose" bid and got it and have bought a bunch of shop equipment at one of their auctions and bought several pieces off the Bob K estate auction off the same system.

I'd say that the having a year to pick up what you bought and only having to actually haul off what you want of it contributed to a lot of the bidding going higher. The gent who had owned all of that had owned and his family still owns a big s**** metal business. You don't want to haul the heavy ch***is that you didn't want off that truck back to Wisconsin, no worries, just remove what you want and tell us that you are done.

They do have all the prices posted now if you're curious about what stuff sold for. I liked the "soft close" on the auctions. It eliminates a lot of stress of trying to jump in at the last second. And I'm sure it gets more money for the seller.

I missed out on the car I bid on. It went for an additional $550.

I agree with many of the comments. Having a year to pick up and only take what you is a great thing. Soft close is certainly best for the seller. I don't quite agree with the "just like an in person auction" as in person it's item by item without skipping around which is what happens with soft closing. Prices on auction 3 still aren't showing for me

M just like in person comment only pertained to the sniping as seen on Ebay. I've been admittidly gulty of that on Ebay many a time and that is my mode of operation if I really want something.
As I said, I bought an OT car for my wife with a "won't get hurt I can spend some money on it" bid and got it below s**** price because no one bid against me not even the wrecking yards. Three quarts of transmission fluid in a German car that doesn't have a transmisison dipstick or fill tube and she has a great driver that ended up costing 380 bucks tax ***le and all. In the same auction there were a couple of F 350 diesels that got bid up several K each after the auction should have ended.

Some of those big trucks sold for a lot more that I expected. A good day for the seller I suspect

So much for all the claims that our hobby is dying.
A look at what most of these trucks hammered for shows that there's still plenty of "play money" floating around in pockets and being spent. Some real decent buys but certainly no worries that the s****pers were lined up to load vehicles at give away prices and haul them off for s****.

I've bought cars and other stuff (shop equipment) though auction houses that use that same auction system and it is a squared away setup but as I said before doesn't allow for last second sniping. That may be why some vehicles went a lot higher though as the snipers ended up in actual bidding wars.
Still the 12 months to pick you purchase up and only having too take what you actually want off it probably were the big factors. I'd expect to see a lot of familiar cabs off cab over trucks on Ebay and other sites minus the ch***is in the next year.
The two trucks I was watching to get a cab for a bobber truck went out of my price range in a hurry though.

Side note, If you bought anthing off their auction make sure you make a stop at the Cabellas store there. That Town is the original home of Cabellas and that store is a nifty place to spend some time. Plus if you like things that go bang they will ship to your home store.
