Trying to find an oil pan seems to be a challenge...as far as lifters go, I took valve covers off and rotated the crank and found #7 intake valve barley moves and push rod is loose... hopefully it is just a lifter Sent from my Z987 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

If you need a rear sump expect to pay $400 plus the pick up tube . Cheap advice just take a mid sump and have it modified you can get a new pick up $120 to $145. I have a rebuilt 472 that I was going to put into my 54 Pontiac and may still do it. Exhaust headers are available on EBAY average is $125 for stainless tight hugging center dumps.

Ok don't panic. I have some things to do this morning and I will look in my pile of Cad parts. There is a book on Cad engines and I will see if I can find the specs for you. The block started in 68 and ended in 76 for the 472"/500". I am not sure about pans for the 425" 77/79

Well I looked in my pile of left overs. I have a rebuilt stock carb for my 1972 472 never mounted went with a Edelbrock before the carb came back. A couple sets of valve covers stock and chrome. So I can't help.
I have a 472 Caddy in my 47 Chevrolet sedan, had to notch the firewall for left head clearance, about a half inch. Try 500cid.com for Cadillac parts also. A mid sump oil pan might fit as is, that one on ebay might be a good deal.
Back in the day, a friend of mine put a Cadillac OHV V8 ( don't remember the exact year probably a 365 or 390) in his 49 Ford and needed a dropped tie rod to clear the oil pan. A dropped tie rod was something you always looked for when street racing those 49 - 53 Fords. It was a dead giveaway you weren't going up against a flathead. Gary

insinna, if you can figure out how to see through a closed hood to determine whats underneath it I'd like to know it. Thats the thanks I get for trying to help a newbie with 68 posts, a wise *** answer. If you know so much, why can't you figure it out yourself? Gary
