.250 domes. .030 up to .060. Haven't taken the block to the machine shop yet. Hopefully .030 takes care of it, I'm suspecting taper, but I'm not opposed to building a 468

781, open chamber oval. 122cc. From what Jamie and a couple of guys here have told me, that'll put me in the 9.5 to 1 range

I actually bought my heads from my machinist. They were on his 454 in his 55 Chevy, he went to aluminum heads.

Yeah I do, it's not a drag car though. If I can't drive it, I don't want it lol. So my 454, say it makes 400hp and 500ftlbs, that won't be a fun street car? Hell my dodge truck makes 385hp and its a blast to drive! Plus I can drive it across the country. I want a fun street car that I can run down the track for fun. This is my first big block ever, but from what I hear they make a shit ton of torque. If not I'll build another small block! Stop me if I'm wasting my time and money on a big block

I'm just bustin' your ball's, Man. Big Block's do make a shit ton of torque. For a street driven car, you'll be King! ;) I'm just ust'a letting shit breathe at high RPM's... :D

Well I've been married 3 times, these balls are like grapes brother. But listening to my big block buddies, a closed chamber, rectangular port head is good shit, for high rpm use/ drag racing/ all out balls to the wall type of stuff. But for a street driven, fun car, a big oval used with the 1/4" dome is the way and the light? In going off my buddy's that run em. Hell, Jamie told me not to waste my money going to a 2.19 intake valve on an engine that's gonna live below 5800-6000rpm. Others have told me that also. @lumpy 63 recommended a comp 280H camshaft. I know Mark is running an ISKY 270 in his 396 and loves it. So I'm soaking up all of the info I can. I just want good torque, I'm not looking to wind 7 grand. Plus I gotta be able to get in the car, loaded down with luggage, coolers, and tools, and hit the big road without worrying about it. If I'm not gonna be able to do that, I'll build me a 406 or another 355 :D:D:D

I guess if you've never driven a rectangular port closed chamber big block on the street, you might feel this way. But if you have, then you might feel different. They work fine.

20230602_144314.jpg Actually got it taking gas half ass out of the hole. Switched to a yellow secondary spring for tonight to see how it goes. Cross your fingers for me and we'll see if we get a better time slip tonight! It feels a ton better

It looks like the air pressure is about right.

Test hits lol. Slick concrete lmao! Just seeing how it is reacting to full throttle off idle. It was blundering some. Took it down to the straight stretch and it actually seemed pretty decent. Curious as hell to see what it'll do now. Gate opens at 5, test & tune starts at 6. There's a trophy race tonight also that's included in your admission, so we'll see how it's running.

Breaking news. I just sat and talked to the track owner, he said that we're welcome to have Lloydfest here at the track, free of charge! Just gotta pay to register if you wanna race. Got a huge field to use and shower houses. I told him we'll talk more later. Whatya think? Only a couple of miles from my house.

11.24 and then 11.10. Went back to a heavier spring and ran the 11.10. Thinking about putting 2 degrees in it

Check out this plug. I'm at 10 degrees initial, 34 all in at 2200rpm. Should I back out down to 8⁰and try it? 20230602_191144.jpg

True, years ago at Edgewater an OT ford Pinto was running consistent mid 50 second times, went deep (maybe final round) in the field. He was getting such a massive hole shot for his time the other racers seem to panic and break out trying to pass him. It was pretty funny.
