How much extra is a set with adjustable ends? It make make sense to get them now before you kick yourself in the **** for not getting them in the first place.

Climbed under the car to take a look at the rear end situation, with the X frame, its not the ideal situation when installing a ladder bar cross member lmao! The way i see it i have 2 options... cut the brackets off of the stock rear and put them on the replacement rear, staying with the factory setup, or come up with some brackets on the frame to bolt ladder bars to... o_O

why not run the stock rear end? it already fits and I doubt that you will destroy it with a 283....

If i weld anything it'll be the old brackets to my new rear end lol. Yeah there's a 283 in there now, but who knows what'll be in there next year. And i really don't wanna half *** it.

I believe i can triangulate the ladder bars and come close to the stock mounting points... according to my measurements anyway lol

I had a welded up 12-bolt rearend in a Chevelle for a while. Worked great right up until it spit parts out through the cover. Could have been the 400 hp small block and 250 hp “power adder” along with a 3500 stall and slicks, but not sure. The things you try when you are young...

Yeah the track here by my house has a tendency to break parts. I don't want to set myself up for failure lol...

It's just all where you want the fuse... Something will break, just depends on how expensive it is. :(

Skinny hard tires seem to be the least expensive (and most fun) thing to sacrifice. :D

Ordered the 32" adjustable ladder bars. I didn't get the complete kit, the crossmember won't work on my frame. I'll build some sort of structure off of the original mounting point and angle the ladder bars somewhat. Anybody got some coilovers they wanna sell me on the affordable? :D

Lol...I wouldn't try that. By the way, my son's El Camino I was telling you about has the exact same setup of wheels/tires on it too...just too new to talk about here.

The rear end i bought, ended being a 2.73 posi, not a 3.73, so i went to order a gear set and the 3.73 was on backorder, if you can imagine that, so i opted for a 3.42. Gonna tackle that project this weekend, I've never done one that didn't whine, so well see. @57 Fargo told me i can text him pictures during the process and he'll give me a hand with my pattern, so i appreciate that. And while i was at the paint supply i picked up some gold flake, i have an idea, we'll see how it works out. 20210901_131257.jpg 20210901_131235.jpg 20210901_131246.jpg

Thanks Joe, yeah we spun it and seen it was a 2.73, but i still paid what he wanted because it had the posi and the brakes are all new. I just have to burn the saddles off and weld some ladder bar brackets and shock mounts on :D

Is the new gear compatible with your carrier? The 2.73 would be a series 2 and normally lower than 3.08 uses the series 3.

When i ordered it, it says in the ad that it's for 2.73 and numerically higher carrier, so i ***ume all is good.
