  1. Lloyd, I think this is a ignition issue. But I have been wrong before . Can you swap some easy simple shit around first, like coil, cap, timing etc. And see what happens.

Wassup mikey! Actually I just got off the phone with Jamie, my buddy that owns the machine shop. He called and said he has a "known to be good" HEI that he's gonna bring to the shop in the morning. I'll take a break tmrw and swap it in there to see if I have the same issue. If I do, then I'll assume it's in the carburetor. Who knows lol. He told me that he had a hot rod that was doing the same thing years ago, and it was the tach, I said bullshit, he said well I unhooked the tach and it ran perfect lol.

  3. If you have the points cap try that .

In my shop we get aftermarket distributors for our forklifts and they are garbage .

complete distributor assembly with cap and rotor button all electrics for $125 bucks .

usually last long enough that when you get a running issue you don’t think about it and take a trip or two around the mulberry bush till you think of looking at it .

at that point we either find a good used oem one or go to the dealer and buy a new one and problem solved .

But we still go back to those useless cheap A/M one’s time and time again .

    yes I’m dumb .

  4. Sounds like a plan buddy. Keep us posted.:)

Just saying, My 1991 chebby 350 had a miss at high speeds .... I did the shotgun approach & replaced entire ignition system.

When I pulled the distributor it had rust residual on it & clearly the issue.

Just a video showing how it's cutting out, what I've been talking about. Easier for you to hear what it's doing than for me to make car sounds over the internet lmao

Right before I shift you can hear the sputter, and I noticed that if you lift a little, it feels like it picks up some o_O weird huh. Fuck it, I'll live with it until I put the big block in it

Grasping at straws here but do you have a vented gas cap? Take the gas cap off and try it?

Couldn't hear the miss in the vid, but it seemed to take it's time winding up. You know a 3.73 or 4.11 out back would be a lot more fun.

I like my gears, I can cruise down the interstate at 70mph @ 3000rpm. Needs torque and horsepower lol. Taking the block up next week. I'll fix this problem. I know I'm only making 250hp tops and less than that on torque. I don't expect it to be "fast", just trying to make it run right.

Went out and fired it up in the dark, no spark jumping anywhere, so next step is distributor. But either way, it's ready to hit the road to Bowling Green!!! Hell yes! Drive em guys!
