That video was 5G shift points? Didn't sound like 5 G to me...
But then I didn't hear the miss either. So there is that.

One of our dirt track cars had a miss at about 4500, every time it hit 4500. We chased that miss for weeks. One week I went into the infield (center of the track) and when the driver hit the 4500 and the miss happened, he pulled in. I actually cut the tack wire to the coil when my driver pulled into the infield, he went back out and the miss was gone. That was the last tach we ever ran.

Pull the tach wire and give it a shot, won't take very long to check it.

Screenshot_20230524-091802_Samsung Internet.jpg Pretty much dead on lol. But yeah it's 5000rpm. Guess the video was a bad idea. It's all good fellas. I'll figure it out. I'm not far from fuel injection and an LS :p

My man, you are married, in your 50’s don’t “come out of the closet” now about an LS.

Hey, just doing my part to keep the family together.

OK my brotherhood of the hot rod, I have made big improvements today. I stopped and picked up a timing recurve kit for an HEI, But knowing that if I used it, Mark would take me out of his will, and I don't want that to happen. So at the recommendation of a few, I unhooked the tachometer and went for a ride, no difference. Then the words of @Johnny Gee kept ringing in my ear, "what's the plug gap big daddy?" So I pulled #1, it was at .045. But I noticed that my burn pattern on the plug was WAY further than it was the other day, way past the turn on the ground strap, I'll attach a blurry picture, but the plug was hot and burning my fingers... so I grabbed my timing light and went at it, 14⁰ initial, 36⁰ all in. I dropped it back to 12⁰ initial, and went for a drive, hell yes! Progress! So I pulled back in, grabbed the light, and set it at 10⁰, reset the idle mixture screws and went out again, 6000 rpm like nothing, minimal stutter, and still if I lift just slightly it goes away. I'm gonna drive it to work tmrw and if I get time I'll gap the plugs at 35? See how it does coming home Saturday morning. Track opens at 10, time runs start at noon. Feel like I'm making progress now though :D

That whole debacle with the tunnel ram. Best I recall was 66 jets in it.

I'd take a fresh set of plugs with you and throw em in at the track. Run it thru the traps and kill it in the lights and throw it in neutral and coast around the corner. Pull a couple of them and have a look. And take a pic and post of course. Take your jets with you. And don't run any octane booster it will color them. Once you read em then throw the shit in the tank:) Lippy

I always thought the gap for a 283 was 35. At least with points.

There were a bunch of different 600's. Maybe you don't care but if you want, and have the time, give me the list number. I can look up what it came with from Holley. A lot of Holley's ended up with the wrong parts over the years.

It's a street warrior, I've fucked with this carb for a year. I've had 3 different carburetors on this engine including a 750 dual line double pumper. Learned yesterday that it doesn't like the timing I was running. Drove it to work this morning, initial is at 10⁰ and it runs much better

Same distributor that was already in it. I dropped the timing back because of the ash line on the plugs
