Here’s why I brought it up to begin with. Bubba has touch on it on other treads as well with further explanation as to how spark can suffer and why. Here’s just one. 79B2A5BD-0648-4BBA-B757-1F85C8A8561A.png

Thanks Johnny, that makes perfect sense. I never thought about it that way. I'm running basically the factory compression, little higher i ***ume, .030 and cut the heads .007. I'll let ya know if it changes anything

Sounds like your honing in on what it wants. Dropping that timing should make it a little richer yet. Maybe re-visit that jet size. Keep in mind the difference between holley jet sizes is not always consistent. .035" on the plugs, ya. Now go daddy go!

I have another new Holley that's still stock. Might switch em out and see how it does.

I ordered 2 carburetors at the same time, you'd think they're the same lol. I already changed the accelerator pump discharge nozzle in this one to a 35, I have a set of jets. I'll drop mine down to 68 soon. No time to do it now. I'm on a 48 hour shift, get off work Saturday morning and the track opens at 10. It's doing good enough for me to have some fun the way it is. I went out in the parking lot and got 6 plugs gapped at .035, I'll get the last 2 sometime tmrw.

Then do a burnout in the lot. For testing purposes, of course.

He was talking about checking the seat pressure on the springs when I was there Tuesday, he told me the 781 heads came from a off shore racing boat, but didn't know if it was a "winning off shore racing boat" or not lmao! They were supposed to have been worked on, but still have the 2.06 intake valves. Which we already discussed. I'm taking the block, crank, and rods up to him this coming week. 468? Pistons cost the same either way.

Lloyd, rectangular port heads and L88 intake from my son's old engine are sitting in my shop. He wants to sell 'em. Let me know.

Special price for Lloyd. The parts aren't mine so not free. Just cheap. Rare one year only 1965 425 horsepower 396ci 'Vette heads. One is original, the other a '68 service replacement. Guess someone blew an engine and lost a head. I say 'Vette because the only other car that engine was found in was a Z16 Chevelle. Let's build a big block for that '60!

I’ll be darn, I thought the “L88” was always a 427. Never knew GM labeled a 396 as an L88.
Lloyd, anything decent and good for a cheap price for a BBC should be jumped on immediately!
