Hot Rods Big Daddy's 55 2 door wagon gasser

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 1, 2024.

  1. Thank ya sir. Should I really be worried about a shift knob at the moment? Lmao! 20240725_141505.jpg

  2. Hey, nothing wrong with getting it all together. So, after all the discussion, what transmission is that? I'm looking for the hood chrome.

You need the inside molding at the windshield? None here.

  4. That's the NP833. I have none of the windshield garnish moldings.

Glad to see you got the 55 home. Got to love the planning stage- little sleep because all the shit swirling around in your head and the stink of the car is welded to your nose hairs, changing your mind on major and minor things daily, and of course everyone telling you how to build your car. Good times, enjoy!

  7. Just ordered golden star inner and outer factory style rockers and floor pans..... damn that shit is expensive!:D

  8. Ordered the front half of the quarter panels from Mill Supply, anybody else ever buy from them? Looked legit, cheaper than ebay. Said I'll have them in 3 days, guess we'll see huh?

I just caught up on the last two pages.
Lloyd, I had a thrashed 427 and a freshened 383 sbc sitting when I started on my '39 Chevy. I've always been a big block guy since I was 16. My heart said BBC, but my bank account said sbc.
Build it however you can and drive it. I am...

On the naming theme how bout following the Rukus theme wit Raucous
Raucous means unpleasantly loud, or behaving in a noisy and disorderly way. It can be hard to give an oral report in the front of a classroom when the kids in the back are being raucous.

  12. Lol I was thinking Ruckus II

Looks great...be sure to flip over before you install it;)
By the way, I believe you are right. Everything I've read indicates the shackles work best on the rear of the spring.

  21. Did we all just have a moment? Awe shucks!

  22. About $300 worth of bourbon tonight lmao

I always thought so as well…for stability.

  24. Tire valves, am I missing something? I bought steel valves for the slots, said the are for .453 or .625 holes. So back at the shop, seems that my wheels have a .500 hole. So the big seal won't work, and the smaller is too small. Should I drill it out to .625 and use the larger seal? Signed, leaky in Kentucky... 20240728_114438.jpg 20240728_114827.jpg

  25. The tire shop locally had more racing style stems than the parts stores here in PA. Recently I went through a similar issue with a vintage wheel.

  26. This is a glass shop... I have windshield urethane.... hmmmm lol

  27. I wonder if someone has modified your wheels?

Just because........I used a front axle from a 51 Chevy Truck. Chevy seemed to think the shackles worked best in the front. Others used axles from Ford vans. Ford seemed to think they worked best in the back.

Many have noted it really didn't matter much either way and based upon actually factory set ups that seemed to make the most sense to me.
