You've got that right! You could build 2 new cars with the hood on this car!

I don't know man, I'm not the kind of guy to pay the money they want for those little tanks, that stuff is crazy! I work too hard for my money lol

if you want to go the cheep, I meant inexpensive route, go to the thrift store, buy 2 of the same SS pots and weld them together. dress em up as you like.

  10. The Speedway tanks don't look bad, but it'd have to go in the grill cavity, so there goes the grill.

My tilt frontend is all steel bolted together. The framework to hang it on wasn't expensive.

I hear you. There is also the western-Sydney redneck version of the Moon tank - for the cost of a propane bottle at the big box store :D

Hey Harv, if you look close at my avatar you'll notice the orange fuel tank. That was made from an old b.b.q. bottle. Heavy little bugger.
I got a knock off Moon tank from Speedway for about a third of the price of genuine to replace it.

If you are going to use steel propane tanks, why not just repurpose an air pig? Already welded and pressure tested. Plumb a pickup on the bottom and a flip top filler cap. You’re all set.

Not every gasser-style tri-five has to have a Moon tank hanging off the front end.
A couple of examples for ya, from the Fall Out Drags:

Personally, I think the front end looks a lot cleaner without one. Save your money!

Just messin' with ya - nose down and a bumper.
But yea - front end high gasser - no bumper / moon tank - a take it or leave it decision.

  23. You know my Henry J had a 55 grill when I first bought it, one of the first things to go. Lol

Not all of them had straight axles in front, either. I'd be willing to bet most didn't.

I like the look with the scoop just peeking out of the hood. What was under it?

This is part of the reason my projects never get finished. I looked into a straight axle and was told don’t do it by my cage builder. But, I do like that 55 grill and wonder if it will fit in a 51. Does anyone have the measurements for the 55 grill?

Lloyd will definitely be faster than me. At least at getting his project done.
