So today after I got off work I was sitting on the front porch when my 16year old daughter comes home from her job. I asked her how her day was and what we should make for dinner. She said how about lasagna, I said sure but we will have to run to the store and get a few things. We jumped in the T and cruised to the store. On the way home I picked a lonely country road pulled over and pretended to check the motor I walked over to the passenger side and told her to scoot her boot to the drivers seat. With a little to tutorial she took off and drove four or five miles like she was on top of the world.!!!! Damn I’m a proud papa!!!!!!!
My older brother did that for me when I was 16 and in his 51 Chevy. One of the most treasured memories I have of my youth, even 60 years later.
My dad let me drive his 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta when I was 14 years old - it ruined me for life. But since I'm a third generation gear head that has no interest in any sport involving a ball I'm good with that. Congratulations on giving her a memorable first drive.
That’s awsome !!!!! start ‘em young. reminds me when I had my learners permit I would beg to go buy “ The Bread “ before dinner. not sure why it took me 3-4 hour to buy bread at the Italian bakery that was a mile n a half from the house
Good on you. Moments like these don't often present themselves, pat yourself on the back for recognizing the opportunity. You did good.
You did a good thing Dad! Great story Rusty. My daughters (now adults) grew up around car people and drove my hot rods too. They now have their own old cars in their garages, drive them regularly and I couldn't be more proud.
Good on you Dad! It is probably the most important experience (especially everyone on the HAMB ) will remember in their life.........
Awesome. A few weeks ago my 16 year old daughter and 14 year old daughter and two friends took my convertible for a drive to a local lake, I wasn’t even with them. Made me happy to see them drive away with the top down all with big smiles. Good for you she looks happy!
Her phone is probably all hot after messaging all her friends that her COOL DAD let her drive an old Hot Rod.
Meanwhile I own my own car and I'm not even allowed to drive it haha you're a great dad, my dad might sneak me off to go drive his camaro
Proud moment for you for sure. What can I say, you know how it felt. She knows how it felt. You 2 now have an even stronger bond. Your lucky, I don’t have kids.
