So after waiting 10 weeks for my license plate it finally showed up today. Took the roadster out for the first time and picked up my Mentor to take him for a spin. He's 86 and it pains me to see how frail he has become but his heart is still into the automobile scene. He ran a restoration business and I have seen him do so many amazing things over the years. I believe he has forgotten more than most guys know. It was so special for me to be able to do this as I used to be his biggest pain in the ***. I hung around his shop and would constantly be asking him how to do different things. He always would take the time to show me but never once did he do it for me. Always show me how and say " now you go ahead and do it". I truly appreciate him for this. Any way, seeing the smile on his face as I was mixing the gears made the three years building this roadster so worth it.

Grow old doing what you love...good medicine. Thats nice of you to share this moment with those who can truly appreciate it for what it is...have fun out there and more pics please...there's more to this than meets our eyes...

statesblue, That is so AWESOME! I am so happy for you and I have to admit that I am a little envious too. To have a relationship like that with an older man that is a mentor and a teacher is literally priceless. My dad was that man for me. He p***ed away in 2009 so I no longer have the influence of an older "hot rodder" in my life. Treasure your time with him! Steve
